Question about Kitchen Ranges

Oven temperature is low, won't get hot enough, sometimes it works...today it did not get above 225 as the thermostat shows. My brownies are trash.. been in the oven for over an hour and still doughy in the middle.

I have a Kitchenaid KGST307HWJH9. It is not even 5 yrs old. it is a convection oven with a fan. This has been an intermittent problem for a few months now. Works great for a while and then nothing. I think I smell a slight gas odor when this happens. today the temperature was reading 225. Several times cakes have come out raw in the middle. I suspect it is not keeping the correct temperature.

What does the oven ring look like. I have the parts diagram. I think the link you gave is for another brand.

Oven randomly rises to very hot temperatures

The oven controls its temperature by using a thermostat sensor. In some ovens this is visible as a small bulb or tube on the inside about the size of a childs finger. Can you see it, has it been damaged? If on the bosch its not visible its still worth buying a new thermostat and dismantling the oven to fit the new one.

My old Jenn-Air W230 wall oven only gets to "warm" in the bake position - even at a temperature setting at 500 degrees. However the broil function works well. Could the problem be a bad thermostat o

the oven sensor could be bad,its a small rod inside the oven cavity near the top,or you could have a bake element with a "hot-spot" in it that can no longer pass enough current to properly heat the oven to the correct temperature setting(most elements with a hot spot will show a discolored area on the element where its been overly hot)this is the "hot-spot" it will soon break apart there

Thermostat broken?

If your oven has a dial that is used to set the temperature instead of a digital control then yes, the thermostat has gone bad and is not shutting the heat off at the appropriate time.

The temperature inside the owen is wrong, when display show for exanmple 225 c but a controll check with an external meter shows only 170-175c the differens is also changing so its not konstant but...

In an oven the thermostat and the sensor are generally one unit. The sesnor/probe is located in the oven. Most of these are not adjustable. Sounds like you need to replace the thermostat.

Range modle is KGSS907SSS01.when i cooking or use the oven, some noice come out ,until over is off or the temperature is down.

is it possible the coolant fan is running and has started making some noise ...the fan will come on at temperature request it has a thermostat to bring it on when the oven gets hot enough and will cool down...sometimes the fan will run even when you turn the oven off if it is hot enough until the temperature gets down low enough to shut it off...maybe this is what is going on and the fan has started making noise now and will need to be replaced.... good luck to you

My new oven doesnot cook lasagna through evenly.

Hi Angela,

There are many different possibilities that can cause this issue. From a faulty thermostat, to placement of the food in the oven, or not giving the oven enough time to pre-heat before placing your food item in the oven to be cooked. I have found that on many ovens they can reach well over 450 degrees during the pre-heating cycle. I had a customer who called because her new oven was burning her brownies on the outside and they were not done on the inside. The customer told me that she would wait for the pre-heat signal beep(oven is ready) before putting the tray of brownies in the oven. When I initially checked the oven tempature using a fluke meter and a thermocouple at the center of the oven I found that the oven was close to 460 degrees when the beep went on to indicate the oven is ready! So that is why she was burning her brownies. It took another 10 minutes after that for the oven to stabalize and keep the tempature at 350. So you might want to give your oven 20 or 30 minutes of pre-heating time before you put your tray of Lasagna in the oven. Always make sure to place the food item at the center most part of the oven. And if you are cooking several trays make sure to stagger their position on each rack so they are not right above/below each other. The positioning is important because it can interrupt the natural flow of heat in the oven. So if you let it pre-heat for a half hour and are still having the burning issue then you should have the oven tested for proper calibration to make sure the thermostat is working properly.
