Question about Cuisinart DLC-5 Food Processor
Our Cuisinart DLC-5 is 3.5 years old. Suddenly the slicing disk is stuck inside the bowl. The stem of the slicing disk is cracked. I tried various tools to try to pry the stem off the plastic cover on the metal motor shaft and also tried to pry the disc up. But I was afraid I'd break the bowl if I used too much force. I called Cuisinart today. The customer service I spoke to said the plastic cover on the metal motor shaft may also be cracked. He couldn't give me a way to get the plastic cover off the metal motor shaft. He said I might have to send the food processor to Cuisinart for service, but couldn't give me an estimate of repair cost.

SOURCE: Install Cuisinart stem cover
I was able to replace my pieces thru Small appliance.com I ordered new parts and the directions on how to remove the old stem and put the new one on.
Put a little vaseline in the rim of the new stem. Use a wooden block and a hammer or rubber mallet and lightly tap the new one into place.
Cuisinart called two weeks after the fact to say I have to send them the machine.....

The DLC-8 blades and the DLC-7 blades are not compatible. To attach the stem, first attach the stem to one of the compatible blades - the stem should day "DLC-7" for the DLC-7 blades - by inserting the first two tabs of the stem into the first two ridges of the blade connector - the left-most tab should be sticking out past the end of the blade connector - then slide the stem into place so that all tabs fit securely into the blade connector. Next, place the end with the blade up and insert the stem into the middle of the workbowl. There is a video for all Cuisinart food processors on the Cuisinart website.
