My computer is on lighted and displaying swooped HP design bu shows no sites on my screen. Its like it is stuck in that position. The pointer is there and moves fine. The drive light (4) is blinking tourquise. How do I get my icons/screen back to work?

SOURCE: problem with the power switch /motherboard

Had the same problem, Removed the Hard Disk, Battery, and DVD combo drive. Reconnected the Hard Drive, Connected the power cable and booted up fine. Whilst computer still on put back the battery and DVD combo drive. Worked perfectly since.

Compaq and Hp are having issues with several models, My wife just got hers repaired free out of warranty. Go to copaqs website, look up your model and see if it is one they are offering free one time repairs on. Wife's computer was doing same thing, they replaced the motherboard. Took about 2 weeks round trip . Good luck

SOURCE: screen wont light up, cannot see the screen.

press f8 after boot up ,then select option enable vga,then when it start go to control panel,
un-install the display drivers,restart and reinstall them.

Hp recalls some king of batterys, maybe yours it is on this recall, contact hp web or phone to take advantege of this recall, otherwise appears that your battery do not work you may replace it.

Hello,

This could be an issue with the inverter problem. Are you using a universal adapter? If so, this could be the possible reason why the inverter died. It is not supplying the correct input for the inverter, thus the damage.

Please consider to bring this to an authorized HP service center. If its still under warranty, the better.

Testimonial: "Tx, is there any means to confirm that the inverter is dead - multimeter check? Tx again for your input."

Mouse pointer disappers

I've seen this happen a couple of times when Word uses the initial preview "Read Mode" or Protected View . Try changing the mode by clicking on the View tab and changing the mode to Print Layout. When it happens to me, that seems to do the trick. If you don't want Word to use the Protected View, go into the Trust Settings for Protected View and uncheck the options in there...this may also keep it from happening in the future...good luck! :-)

Sounds like you have a bad convergence circuit, it's what lines up your picture so the colors are correct. Most brands (excluding RCA) use the same basic design. There are 2 big ICs called STKs that normally fail, some resistors or fuses may also go. Its about $300-$400 bucks to have someone repair it. If you want to try it yourself, this link TVrepair will take you to a site that sells kits with the parts and step by step instructions on how to fix it. Good luck

Screen not coming up

Increase the brightness of the LCD screen. Next, connect an external monitor to the computer to check if the display is output to the external monitor.
If so, then the issue may be with the backlight of the LCD screen.

Laptop Screen distorted.

Your LCD ribbon cable that connects the panel to the motherboard might be damaged. I recommmend calling HP to get it serviced, or go to your local computer repair shop and have look at it. Hope this helps!

The screen will only display top half......bottom black

Might be the following:

There are some (neon) lights behind the screen glass. If you can see a picture from the top, and on some angle the rest of the picture (in the bottom), that means you don't have a problem with your grapgisc card, driver and display, but a problem with one of the back lights. The lamp is gone or a contact/wire that power the lamp that gives white backlight.
This can not be checked or repaired by yourself. You should find a service.
It should't cost you much, sure not that much as replacement of the LCD Panell.

Check if your warranty period is active.

Stuck on Compaq Screen and keyboard dead

I would take the cover off and reseat the memory, video card, and processor. Make sure your fan(s) are working too, and blow any dust out of it if you see a lot of build up.
