Question about Sharp AFR120NX Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner

Fan in our Sharp "Comfort Touch thru-wall a/c stopped

The fan in our Sharp "Comfort Touch" thru-wall a/c stopped working. There's still cold air, but it's not blowing into the room. We bought the unit second-hand for $100 & have used the "fan only" feature 6-8 months of the year 24/7 for 3 or 4 years. We've used the "cool" feature as needed, which is usually daytime only during July & August, and occasionally in May, June, Sept. Is there a way to take the unit apart & replace the fan, or is it time to part with some big bucks for a brand new unit?

Thank you!!! And you're right that we never cleaned it. There wasn't a manual with it, & I couldn't figure out how... probably not worth paying someone to do so at this point? We are quite pathetic when it comes to appliances, & usually a family member or friend takes pity on us. This website is so cool!

Unless the Unit can be cleaned ( you claim it cools?) but not enough. The age of the Unit is not in you Question, the amount of time you got for 100 bucks is pretty good being you purchased a USED UNIT. With the type of use you claim Running 24/7 and about 5 months of cooling - I'd say you never cleaned the Unit from day one - that might cost you about 100 bucks if the unit can be done in the yard by a serviceman. Chemicals can hurt the Unit if not done properly ( and yourself). It sounds to me like you use it for a Business - if so you can purchase one and write it off .

Never heard of it. Maybe it is an air conditioner that is built into the wall and works in two rooms.

My sharp comfort touch air conditioning 12,000 BTU FS-S125FX-A does not cool any more. It's running but at room temp.

Can work the external drive and you see that turns the fan but look at the compressor he works; logically not working if the fan brings the temperature domatiou.antikatestise external capacitor again if the air conditioner does not work then the compressor is stuck.

I have a Sharp Comfort Touch AC displaying E-1. ??

This is a reminder to clean the air filter. It happens every 720 hours of operation. Here are the steps to get it back up and running:
1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front panel.
2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air conditioner in. Continue to hold the power button down as the machine goes through a brief test sequence (fan & compressor each come on briefly, etc). There is a "beep" sound at the end of the test sequence, and the machine will be off. At this point, you can release the power button.
4. Unplug the air conditioner.
5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
6. Congratulations! You should now be able to operate the air conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed the instructions above EXACTLY.

We have had our 12000 BTU sharp ac for about 10 years now. The unit seems to be working but is not cooling the room that well. How do I know if its the compressor or it just needs coolant? If it isn't...

Remove the unit and clean the evaporator coils and the condenser coils with a good coil cleaner chemical.
Oil the fan motor bearings.
Replace the capacitor.

My sharp comfort touch air conditioner make loud noise from fan. It is very loud. I have 2 and both are very loud. I took the unit out of the wall to inspect, and could find nothing obstructing the fan.

Hi, you may want to check the bearings on the fan motor it self. They will wear or get dry and make very loud noises. Check the motor body at each end to see if this motor has oil caps at each end to add a few drops of oil. Some motors do and other motors have sealed bearings and when they go, there is not much you can do when they fail. If it does have a place to oil them, get the oiler at a hardware store. They come in a small plastic bottles that telescope to reach the bearings. This may take the noise away if the bearings are not already gone. Let me no what you find and we can go from there. I wish you the best,

Frigidaire FAH106N1 Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner

Check for blockage of the air pathway. Check that the fan turns freely, as the bearings or bushings could be shot. The fan blades could also be loose. You might just want to replace the fan, as it is cheaper than replacing bushing/bearings.
