its Personal Unlock KEY..........for phone security......actually before PUK u enter sim pin........if wrong pin is entered 5/10 times your sim is locked permanently and sim can only be used after u enter puk code. Please note that pin code is entered by user.....but PUK code is provided by your network service provider company. PUK is generally mentioned on the sim rapper(cover).........in case u have not kept the rapper and u do not know the PUK code and ur phone is asking for it...then please do not try to enter it as too many attempts to enter wrong PUK will lock ur sim for ever and u will have to get a new sim.....so instead of trying a wrong PUK code its better to contact your network service provider (you can call their service number) and he will give u the PUK code for your sim free of cost.
I Hope this clears all your doubts about PUK.
PUK code is a SIM specific code assigned by your service provider so call Customer care and state the problem then they will ask for some codes written on you SIM card. Few people use PIN locking system to lock their phone to avoid un-authorised access. Though this is a good option, it ****** you off sometime. Three wrong entry of PIN code will result in SIM blocking. Once SIM gets blocked, phone starts asking PUK code to enter. If you again enter wrong code for three times, SIM gets completely blocked. You have to walk into your service provider outlet to get a replacement SIM card. I think it may help you.
Ask the PUK Code from service provider, ast he PUK lock is secondary lock of SIM after PIN, if u put 3 wrong PIN Number then Service asked for PUK and if you entered 10 Time wrong PUK number then you have lost your SIM as the same is block permanently.
The PUK & PIN codes are Security Codes that are on the SIM card. PIN( Personal Identification Number ) PUK ( Pin Unlock Key). when the PIN code in entred wrong the SIM automatically Blocks the PIN. to unlock the PIN you need to Enter the PUK. but if you enter the PUK wrong the Entire SIM is Locked.
The PIN Code & the PUK codes are Only Known by your Network Provider. you have to get in touch with them to get the codes. how ever if you have PUK blocked you will have to get a replacement SIM
Answer:
A PUK code (Pin Unlock Key) is required when you enter an incorrect PIN 3
times. After entering the wrong PIN 3 times, the card will be locked and
you will need to get a PUK code from your service provider to unlock it.
If you have AT&T ;
Sorry to inform you but it sound like your SIM is now locked .. Here is some info to help.
please take the time to review my advice and be kind and leave a feedback rating it helps me too.
You can receive your phone's PUK
code from AT&T, either by logging into your account at myWireless Account, visiting our Technical Support Chat, or by calling Customer
Care at 1-800-331-0500.
Once your PUK has been received, it will need to be entered into your
phone to set a new PIN code.
If the wrong PUK code is entered ten times in a row, the SIM card becomes
invalid and you will need to purchase a new
SIM Card. The phone will display "PUK blocked call operator".
PUK
stands for 'Pin Unlock Code', and has to be entered if you've locked
your SIM by repeatedly entering the wrong PIN code. If you're asked for
a PUK code, you've had more goes at guessing your SIM card PIN code
than you're allowed. You'll need to phone your network provider
Customer Services for your PUK code to unlock the SIM. For security
reasons, it's only the network operator that can legally provide you
with a PUK code to unlock your SIM.With some phones you will get a cert card with your sim card and it might have the 8 digit PUK on it. if this has been entered 10 times or more incorrectly then you will need a new sim card
you have entered the pin code wrong 3 times now you are required to enter a puk code to reset the pin code.
The puk code is sim card spesific it comes with the sim card when you get it or you can get it by calling your phone service provider of the sim card to get the puk code.
if you have entered the puk code wrong too many times you will make the sim card useless and you will have to contact your phone service provider for a new sim card, it will probably cost.

SIM pin code: This is a pin code that locks the sim card until you enter the correct code. This protects your account, even if your sim is put into another handset. To reset it, you need the PUK code: Pin Unlock Code (PUK) If you miss key (or forget) your SIM pin code, and enter the wrong one 3-5 times in a row, the SIM will lock up, and you’ll need to enter the PUK unlock code to release it. You should ask your Network Service Provider for this code when you need it. Don’t try to guess it, because after a few wrong guesses, the SIM card will be permanently disabled.
