How can I register my GE 27911 handset?

I have a GE 27909 DECT 6.0 Answering system, with additional handsets.  But I can't get the handsets registered.  The handset screen flashes "notregister."  I press MENU, then scroll to REGISTRATION.  I press MENU again and the screes says REGISTER.  I PRESS  MENU and the screen says PRESS AND HOLD PAGE KEY FOR 5 SEC.  When I do that, it beeps twice and then the little green "charge/in use" light flashes for 2 minutes.  When it stops the handset screen still says "not register."  The handset was charged and sitting near the base.

I AM AT A LOSS.

I also had this problem and then I found a solution from another site.
Just open the handset and remove the battery for about 1 minute.
Reinstall the battery and go through the register procedure again - it will register almost immediately. just keep the handset near the base.

Thanks to the good folks here I finally made the 27911 register to my base 27909. I tried about 20 times before, without success. This time I removed the 27911 battery for 1 minute (you have to push in the front of the white plug to disconnect; I used a knife). I plugged the battery back in, set the 27911 to register, pushed the page button on the base, and... nothing. It still did not register. Desperate, I gave it one more shot. I did the same thing, but held the base in my left hand, and the 27911 in my right hand, and like a wand, I moved it all around the base (within inches) as the green light was blinking. And... success! It is a lousy product, a $10 phone for which GE charges $150. Stay away, but at least you should be able to register it if you follow the above.

I have Uniden DECT1480-3. I purchased two expandable handsets, but I cannot figure out how to get the new handsets to register with the base unit.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered with the DECT 1480 phones. I have the 5 phone unit and needed to add the 6th phone. All I got was "Searching" in the display and the battery wouldn't even charge!

So here's what you have to do to get additional phones (up to 6 units) to work with the base. If you can get past step 1, it's a snap...

Step 1: Place a charged battery in the handset. This could be a problem if all your handsets are not registered, since unregistered phones don't charge (who thought of that design?). What I did was SWAP the battery from an already registered and charged phone with the new unregistered phone.

Step 2: Here's where the magic happens. Press the 'END' and '#' keys simultaneously... hold them down until a System Reset menu appears. Select "Deregister HS" and press Menu.

Step 3: Now, do the same thing again (hold down END and #), but this time select Base Unavailable and press Menu. You will see Base Unavailable Yes/No... Select Yes. Then place the handset in the base, wait a few seconds, and Voila!. it's registered. You can even change handset numbers using this menu if you play around with it.

Thank you, helpful employee at Costco for supplying the magic code. And hey there, UNIDEN... including this in the operation manual would have saved many customers much grief with de-registered phones!

Enjoy!

Can't get handset to register

After each registration of a handset, you need to hold the page button on the base for 5+ seconds. If you then get an error tone, you'll likely have to return the phone due to a hardware problem. What did you do?

Just bought an additional handset for GE 27951 expandable 6.0 DECT Cordless. I press and hold the Page button for 5 seconds but the new handset will not register. Error keeps occurring "no base."

This exact thing happened to me. Same model number. No matter what I did, the new handsets would not register.

The solution? Reset the entire system:
1. On the BASE - Unplug from wall both power and phone line. Unplug battery from base handset.
2. ON the Extension phone - unplug from wall and unplug battery from handset.
3. Wait AT LEAST 5 minutes.
4. Plug back in BASE power.
5. Plug back in BASE phone line.
6. Plug back in EXTENSION handset battery. Don't plug in BASE handset yet.
7. Follow steps to program EXTENSION. When successful:
8. Plug back in BASE handset battery.

GE Model 27911 DECT 6.0 Additional Cordless Handset not working

I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.
