I had a similar problem to this and ended up having to recover my profile which fixed it in my case.

The first thing I tried though was to go into my HDD and delete the game files for the game (in my case it was Gears of War 2). I cleared out the GoW2 folder (losing my saved games). This didn't work in my case so I went onto the profile recovery method, which solved it.

If you want to try profile recovery here is a link to show you what to do.

Hope this helps some,

My wii won't play the new wii games.Need to know how to upgrade? It will play the older wii games.

hi there,
the best and easiest way to upgrade the firmware on your wii is to connect the wii to your internet and look for system update in the system settings and update that way. Altthough most games that need newer firmware come with the update installed on the disc, normally once you insert the disc it will tell you it need to update the system firmware in order for the game to work, so i'm not sure why this is not happening for you if your new games not playing. The only thing i can think of if it's not updating automatically is that the wii has been chipped/modded in some way, has it? If it has'nt just connect the wii to the internet you should be able to update it that way.
Hope that helps

Disc doesn't spin 'open tray'

There is a limit microswitch for the tray that is not being met - telling the machine the tray has closed all the way.
Your unit will need to be sent off for repairs.

I just got a new xbox and a new game and when i put in the game it says it cant read the disc i cleard it and turnd of my xbox but it still dosnt work???????

The first thing you should try is another disc, if it still having trouble then it may be the laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a Q-tip and alcohol. If this still does not fix the problem, the laser is going to need to be replaced. Check with Microsoft to see if the unit is still under warranty with this site:

If the unit is not under warranty, go to We are a console repair company based out of Dallas, Tx. We will get your unit up and running. All of our repairs come with a 90 day warranty for the whole console not just what we repair. We also offer extended warranties for up to 4 years at an additional cost.

I have a specific game that will not play on my xbox 360,Lego star wars the complete saga. Every other game works but this one. I thought was a bad disc but i got it exchanged and still the same thing...

Try to install the game to the HDD. You must have the NXE Dashboard.

To do this simply insert the game onto the drive and go to the menu where it shows the game disc.

Press Y on the image of the game and select "Install to Hard Drive".

After the game finishes install select "Play From Hard Drive"

If the game fails to install try cleaning the disc with warm water NOT hot or cold water but WARM. After that dry the disc with a soft towel or some sort of SOFT cloth by wiping away from the center of the disc.

My Xbox 360 Halo 3 edition hardly reads any disc successfully!

This most likley a weak laser .
8 mw 633 nm laser diodes fail in stages
as they get weaker the cd ups voltage
to the laser diode till you get to full gain, affter that
it's time for a new laser .Good news
there cheap 30.00-40.00 and not too
hard to swap out yourself .

When turn on console. i have no red lights but it says please insert updating disc

The console did not fully install an update from a disc that was put in, the best way to resolve this is to clear the cache and put in the latest game you have.

Go to the Xbox Dashboard, select the System Blade, and select Memory.
Highlight the HD symbol and press Y.
Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X.

Note: Game saves, user profiles, demos, videos, music will not deleted during the process - But all game/console updates and error logs will be deleted.

After you have done this put the latest game in the console but DON'T close the tray instead just press the power button and let the console close the tray.

Now power on the console and click on the Game Disc and it should tell you that this game needs an update, just follow the directions.

Let me know how you get on.
