Hi,

Well it seems that there is some fault in the turnable motor, turntable system consists of the motor and coupler, turntable support with rollers and the tray.
I have a video link to help you more on this -- how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand... please follow the below link -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPSWi_z7M58

If motor grinding... etc., it means you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

Post further comments if you need more help....
Good Luck!!

Why does turntable rotate with door open?

The door switch could be stuck in the closed/on position. The electronic circuits could be malfunctioning. When the door is open, I sure hope than the microwaves cooking are not "ON". That could result in a very dangerous situation for you.

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

On some, you have to cut the motor cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

I have the same problem my microwave is a kenmore this is the second one I've had and they both did it I solved the problem by re-seating the turn table however if you are skilled at taking things apart you can put a few drops of small motor lubricant on the spline it worked for me. good luck!

The turntable has a small motor underneath it that rotates the glass tray. You could have a motor that is going bad, or the plastic spindle (what the glass plate sits on) could be slipping. You can access the motor through the bottom panel. Be careful to make sure the microwave is unplugged for attempting any repairs inside. There is potentially as much as 14,000 volts in the high voltage network around the magnetron. Let me know if this helps.
