Dell Inspiron 1525 experiencing Blue screen and various windows error messages, Previous repeated Wlan card failure messages over several months prior to recent blue screen most recent memory write/read failure & memory address line failure messages. I am aware there was a recent attempt by owner to backup memory following blue screen and windows errors. Which I beleive may have caused the most recent write / read error messages. I ran a full memory diagnostics test and system passed all phases. QUESTION: should I attempt to reseat memory first? or reformat? if reformat is necasarry could someone please tell me if users memory settings, pictures, programs ect will be lost without backup to external hardrive? and also provide steps to walk through the reformat process. Thank you
If the ram passed memtest then the problems are likely to by corrupt system files. rather than do a complete reinstall and have to worry about backing up the data try ReImage. They c will remotely fix the system files, leaving your data intact
ReImage
Do a recovery first and if you are still getting a blue screen on this 1525 call dell and ask for a replacment do not go any further in trying to repair it yourself as anything you do would just make matters worse if its out of warrenty then the only thing you can do is try:
1. clean the unit if there is any dust
2. try new memory modules
3. run a memory diagnostic on it using windos diagnostics
4. recover the operating system.
I hope you have some good luck with this advice.
