SOURCE: Strimmer Line

rotate the starter pulley by hand. You should feel the spring getting tight. Once the pulley is slightly tensioned, usually 5-10 turns, release the pulley and let is pull the string onto the pulley. You may have to add some tension to get all the rope to wind on the pulley.

SOURCE: Ryobi PBC 3046YE strimmer starts but cuts out when speed control

A lack of acceleration in these units is most likely a fuel delivery related issue. It may possibly be time for a diaghram kit or carb rebuild kit to be installed in your carburetor. Ethanol in the gas deteriorates the parts that accomplish the acceleration procedure and may need to be replaced as they don't function anymore.
Many other things can affect these little machines as well such as clogged air filters, clogged crank case vent, clogged mufflers/exhaust ports./ spark arrestor screens...but more often than not, your problem is a carburetor issue.
Please look at the troubleshooting section on this Zama site PDF file

Restring a pgt300 performance power strimmer, it has a white casing which does not come off preventing me from adding more line

There should be 2 plastic tabs which you have to push in, this removes the wider outer base cover of the strimmer spool, giving you access to the bump cap and line spool.

Depending on the style you have, one looks to be a whole replaceable spool unit, one looks like a re-threadable spool.

Ryobi problems

Be sure the spring is not bound up with grass or mud. It has to recoil to push the head down so the line doesn't continue to shoot out.

I have a partner colibri strimmer. How do I lock the driveshaft to change the line spool head ?

You should have a small hole in the side of the head that a small rod goes in to lock it. Just line the holes up and stick the rod or a nail in there and it should be locked.

Automatic line advance not advancing on Ryobi 18v trimmer

I have a Ryobi Model RY28040 straight shaft line trimmer. In my case I replaced the complete String Head Assembly that includes the String Head Housing, Spring, and Spool and the string still did not advance. I then discovered that the bolt in the Spool Retainer cap (the red cap that attaches the spool to the shaft) was fused and not moving. The bolt needs to be loose inside the cap in order to allow the spool to move in and out by the spring. I loosened the bolt and fastened the spool back onto the shaft. Fired it up and bumped it a few times and the line began to advance. Turns out I probably only needed to replace the Spool Retainer rather than the String Head Assembly.

Ryobi RPT 254c strimmer, how do I wind the line so I stop losing the line

You are winding the line on the spool in the wrong direction. The line should be wound on in the opposite direction of the way that the head spins during operation.

How can i strimmer wire on a ryobi plt 3043ye

Hi alice louise
Try this method

1 Press the lock and rotate the spool counter-clockwise or some will remove the center knob.
2 Remove the locking ring if your weed eater has one.
3 Take off the automatic feed button.
4 Wipe away any dirt and debris.
5 Push down on the spool to release the locking tabs.
6 Remove the spool from the chamber.

Restringing the Weed Eater
1 Feed one end of the line into one of the holes of the spool, and secure the end that was inserted
2 Wrap the line in the direction of the arrows. Do this until until you fill the spool up with line.
3 Secure each of the lines into its own upper and lower grooves.
4 Re-install the spool into the chamber from which it was removed.
5 Pass the lines into the left and right holes and snap the spool into place.
6 Once the spool is in its sleeve and fed into its left and right eye holes, pull both ends simultaneously.
7 Reinstall the locking ring if necessary, reinstall the center knob.

How much line do I reload a strimmer spool with from a bulk reel?

It depends on the brand of trimmer and the type of head on the trimmer. On my Echo trimmers, I install 18'.
