KitchenAid dishwasher allows water to drain while washing

My 3 year old kitchen aid dishwasher allows water to go out via the drain while wash cycle is running until no water is in the unit to circulate and wash, then it just humms until shut off time out. I check the drain check valve, it is operating properly by allowing water to flow out toward septic system but does not allow any flow from drain system back into machine. I do not see a valve between the drain pipe and the drain pump motor. How does the washer supposed to keep the water in the unit while washing?

I fixed it! The soil sensor that removes built up debris was, when tested showing normally closed, it is supposed to be normally open circuit. I took it apart, cleaned it, put back together. Walla, fixed! Then I put back together, same problem. I noticed an adjustment screw (very small flat head machine screw on top or sensor). Adjusted that out (counter clockwise) until the sensor was back to normally open circuit. Turned a couple more times outward for safety sake and put back on the outlet of pump and she works fine now. The whole issue with, dishes coming out dirty, soap still in the dispenser, wash cycle short was the soil sensor. Now you know. By the way, you can remove the sensor and put drain line on the pump directly, then remove the two wires and take the sensor completely out and the dishwasher will work fine, but it will no longer self clean the filter system. It is a guess of how many turns to adjust the sensor past when it becomes normally open again so I went two turns and it has been fine and the self cleaner still operates as it should.

Your dishwasher is siphoning the water out. The drain hose should turn upward, nearly to the bottom side of the counter top, before it attaches to the drain or disposal. If it has an independant drain it still needs the rise and also needs an air break to stop the siphoning.

Broken Timer? My OLD Kitchen Aid Quiet Scrub Dishwasher no longer advances through cycles automatically--I have to turn the knob manually for every step. It works fine other than that.

Hi Spring

All depends where you are and wether you can get Parts.
Is the timer accessible?
Timer is driven by a small clock motor.
Could it be fixed or lubricated.
Give it a service and save money!
Good luck

Upper drawer dishwasher won't drain

First =check for a plugged drain line
Second = check for plugged screens in the unit.

It could also be your pump. The vanes are only plastic and they sometimes just give out.

I have a Kitchen Aid 2 drawer dishwasher and its about 2 years old. My problem is the top drawer will not drain during wash cycle. The bottom drawer drains fine. model number KUDD03DTSS 10

Hi,
You may have clogged pump to the drawer. open drawer, lay on your back under the dish drawer, removed the black cover (3 screws) remove 2 screws to the pump and allow the water to drain out into a bucket or bowl. make sure the pump can turn easy. Reassemble and test unit again. If fails, replace pump.
Pump
I hope this helps, good luck

My Kitchen Aid dishwasher runs for about 2 hours. Is this normal

It depends on your water pressure. Mine runs a cycle in about 25 minutes, with 92 psi water pressure. Before changing all the pipes in my house, I had about 30 psi and it took about 45 minutes. The longer it takes to fill, the longer it takes to do a wash.

Kitchen aid dishwasher

Either:
  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

Kitchen Aid KUDI230BAL0 - no fill on rinse

i would check for apossible drain issue, perhaps siphoning water out after 2nd fill. make sure you have prper high loop insatlled in drain hose, could also be a bad water fill valve, solenoid overheating and not opening properly after 3 fills
