Laptop wont start properly

I'm having problems with my laptop. Basically, when I switch on, it won't go past the Microsoft Windows XP start-up screen - the one with the three blue scrolling lights (from left to right). I have turned off and tried again - removed internet connections and tried again - tried starting up with a CD in the drive but it makes no difference - it just won't go past the Microsoft Windows XP screen. Please help!!

Preasrio f557us wont boot past the XP screen

Ram was your best bet on a laptop. But you can load XP onto itself so it reloads without deleting any files. However, if it still may fail. If that happens a clean install is your next step.

Try this fix from the Microsoft WEB site.

If it does not work then -
The quickest and easiest fix is to re-install Windows XP, the laptop's device drivers and your programs.

T61 won't go past the Microsoft loading screen

Press F8 during boot, and load Safe Mode. A program may be preventing a proper startup.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig > Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running.

This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

Windows won't start up? Well, try this Download Tenorshare Data Recovery from its offical site and install it. Burn it into CD/DVD, or USB flash, put into the computer you need to repair, Bios setting. It can make sure your important data will not lose. Best of luck

HELLO!PLAESE HELP ME.I HAVE dell vostro 1015 windows vista but i want to convert it into xp,the problem is whenever i try to install windows xp a blu screen appears saying that something about my bios

Are you using a full version retail or OEM copy of WIN XP to install? Or is it a recovery copy from another PC or laptop? You will need to use a full version disc to perform the retrofit. You will also need to download the WIN XP Drivers for your laptop from the Dell Site. You CANNOT "upgrade" install WIN XP over VISTA and keep your drivers, settings, files. Performing a WIN XP install will require a total wipe of your hard drive. Therefore you will have to save off all your personal files before you do this. Microsoft doesn't provide assistance for downgrade-type installations, so you must basically wipe your hard drive and then reload the OS.

Laptop screen has vertical lines of garbage 3/4" wide about 3/4" apart. sound system starts making choppy noise after only few minutes powered up. Trying to fix this laptop for a friend - I'm a desktop...

Connect an external monitor to the VGA-output port on the laptop, to see if the video-effects are being caused by the video-card, or by a damaged "internal" LCD screen on the laptop.

Take any genuine Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 CD/DVD disk, and "boot" from it. Do the vertical lines appear when booting? If so, you have a hardware problem. If not, then only the currently-installed version of Windows is messing-up your display.

If all else fails, backup all the user's files to an external device, reformat the disk-drive, and reinstall Windows, to see if it's a messed-up version of Windows that is causing the symptoms.
