Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP85 Gas Kitchen Range
I've just received an inspection report regarding my "for sale" house. The problem reads,
"The gas shut-off valve is difficult to get to or is missing (not located) at the kitchen cooktop. This is a concern in the event of an emergency and the need for quick access to turn off supply. Appliance technician to confirm location or install a gas shut-off valve."
Is there ever a gas shut-off valve at the cooktop or would the shut-off valve only be at the gas meter outside?
I assume you have found an answer by now, but for the record, they are referring to an *Appliance* gas shutoff valve, not the major one for the home. Each gas appliance should have an easily accessible shut of valve (for a cooktop, it would typically be in the cabinet below). Older homes with basements may have it located there - the idea is to be able to shut the gas off to that individual appliance.
