Despite the lack of information what you have provided sounds like a failed drive or drive enclosure.

As a rule, either the enclosure or drive circuitry failing will cause this type of issue. Also driver problems can simulate this type of failure. So, to correct the problem, first try the drive on a second computer. If it works there the driver is simply corrupt on your system, report back and I can give you detailed instructions.

Second, if it doesn't work on the other computer, try taking it to your local computer store and asking them to test the hard drive in a different enclosure. If it works, buy the enclosure and you're done.

Finally, if neither of those works, you will likely need a data recovery pro, again respond back including your country, state and city and I can refer you to a nearby facility.

Hope this helps Fixya,

I bought a 3.5 External hard drive enclosure for a 1TB hard drive. The PC recognizes it but not under the removable drives

right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage". Then go to "disk management" once loaded you will see your drive. You probably have to initialize the drive and assign it a drive letter. all that can be done from right there.

Zmodo blinking hdd light

A blinking HDD light means it is reading/writing; under normal conditions anyway. Just means that it's being accessed, that's all.

Now if your TV screen is also BLANK, then you have the same problem I do... I'm just waiting on a reply. Mine is the Zmodo ZMD-DX-SBN8 but should be similar enough, I think.

I just got a 1.5 TB WD ext HD. It blinks evenly & slowly when the computer is sleeping. It blinks rapidly when the computer is awakened, & becomes solid during the time the computer is...

Seems perfectly normal, the slow blink while sleeping shows you that it is active but not in use (witched off but immediately available) The rapid blinking is the machine accessing the disk and the constant light means it has power but not connected. The occasional blink is probably the HDD parking the reading head or shutting down the disk or both.
Nothing to worry about.

My Iomega Prestige 1Tb Desktop Hard Drive failed on me and is no longer detectable and the led power indicator is now blinking like a faint pulse and doesnt seem to be spinning any longer. Any suggestions...

I have the same problem. Because I have an iMac that can't be opened I can' try this myself, but I would try to mount it as an internal disk in a computer with a cabinet. I suspect our problems has to do with the controller, not the disk itself.

Of course, this means you'll have to take out the internal drive. I have opened mine, and it was really easy. There is some resistance when you slide it out of its chassis. But dont' worry. It's just some heat-dissapating foam it has to pass on the way out.

Mine had a 1TB Samsung-disk inside by the way.

My Book World does not power up

Mine is the same. Powered down over Xmas. Powered it up and the disks spin up but no lights.
Emailed WD. They sent me a bunch of standard test stuff. Nothing helped.
I ended up taking the two 500G drives out and putting them in my computer. The first one I tried (B) would not allow the PC to start!!!
The second one I tried (A) was found correctly in the BIOS. The XP disk manager found it but couldn't identify the file format.
I put the A drive (only) back in, powered it up and voila ... it worked.
Looks like the B drive failed. Now to go buy a relacement drive for B!

Lights on, no display, doesn't boot

had similar problem on sony vaio. when power depressed, i could hear the cd drive turn a bit, the hard drive light blink once, and that's it. power light would remain on, but nothing else. I took it apart and resoldered all the main chasis grounds on the motherboard and shorted/resetted the board battery(memory/clock) and put everything back together and started up fine. got lucky i guess.

AC Adapter blinks once, but no power getting to hard drive

These drives are known for lunching the power supply within the unit itself. Depending on you PC configuration, you may wish to do the same as I did when mine went. The drive itself is a standard 7200 sata drive. If your motherboard has sata capability, and/or a spare sata connection, you can slave the drive into your pc, and end of problem.
