Question about HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Almost every time that I try to use my printer, I constantly end up with squares of black ink streaking through out the page. I have even tried replacing the cartridge several times, which didn't make a difference. One thing that I have noticed with the HP 98 & 95's as of late, is that they have holes at the bottom of the cartridges, where as the older ones have plastic pieces. Would this be part of the problem? Please advise as I constantly have to use my work printer.

If an inkjet printer gives white streaks where it should be black, it means the ink is very low, or there is dirt under the nozzles preventing it from printing properly, or, in the case of non original cartridges, ink might be leaking which prevents the bubbles of ink to squirt onto the page.

If the streaks are black where it should be white, is sounds like some dust or fluff below the cartridge leaves ink smears on the page.

Constantly has black streak on page even after cleaning

Welcome to FixYa!

If you are experiencing black streaks or bands in your printout such as the image below, one or more print cartridges might be low on ink or defective. If you are using non-HP print cartridges, no messages will appear on the device control panel or in the HP Toolbox.

Since this is caused by low on ink or defective print cartridges, the best thing to do is to replace the print cartridges.

Thank you for using FixYa. Keep me posted.

Page prints with black streaks

Black streaks are more then likely caused by dirt, dust and dry ink. Try using a damp cloth and clean the excess dirt/ink. Some printers have an auto clean setting, try that as well!

It is leaving a black streak on underside of page

That's odd for an InkJet printer to do that, but try swapping for a different ink cartridge as a test. Also, check the rollers, maybe some ink got on them. If that's the case, it should dry up eventually (soon).

You'll have to open up the printer and clean everything off. You probably have a feed roller with ink on it. If you refill, use ONLY inks made for your brand of printer.

Blank Ink not pumping to print head

Turn off the device after removing the printhead After removing the printhead, turn off the device, wait about 20 seconds, and turn it on again without the printhead installed. After it has restarted, reinsert the printhead.

it will go through this long routine of perhaps 20 min or so. after its compleate it should print great.

2 Missing ink black streaks

Check the dev unit for missing lines. Also clean the laser glass with the supplied cleaner pad - though if the problem were caused by toner on the lens, there would be gaps in ALL colours.

Check the dev units first. You can also do a stop test whilst a full colour test image is half way through printing and see if the lines are missing off the image on the PCU as well.

What is causing black streak

You should try changing the toner cartridges first. There may be something stuck in it causing the noise and streaking

Streaks / Bands of broken print area

First with a clean soft cloth and a very small amt of alcohol clean off the underside of the printer carridge (the holder for the print heads) also where the print heads cleaning station is clean out any large masses of congealed link. Then remove the ink cartridge in question and with a pencil eraser gently rub the contacts and both the cartridge and the carridge replace the cartridge. Using the software tools for the printer clean and align the printheads ( if there is an option to do so). If this dosn't fix the problem try a different ink cartridge.
