The main base is plugged up but the light does not come on to say whether or not it is charging. I have tried different sockets, but nothing changes. When I press the talk button after about 5 seconds the phone beeps lights up and then goes back to how it looked when I first picked the phone up. Do you think I need a new charger for the phone?

First make sure the phone jack is working by plugging a working phone into it.
if it is working, use the same phone cable to plug into the base of your new unit.
if you do not get dail tone, place the handset into the main charging base. this should sync the phone up to the base. lift it out and try again.
if you still do not get dail tone or see searching, open the phone and remove the battery. wait 30s or so, plug the battery back in and set the phone in the main charger again. wait 10second and try the phone again.
Try unpluggin the power cord and check with battery.
Check whether battery is charging with the power chord on.
Try with a different wall socket.
If this does not help.
Try with a different power chord of the same kind and check whether it works.
If yes, the power chord is the ussue. Best would be to replace it.
Try your power chord in a laptop similar kind and check whether the other laptop works fine.
Try juggling the power cord and check whether it gives supply. If yes then check for AC adapter for any damages or cuts. If any is found the contact manufacturer for replacement.
else Main board is the issue.
But before this I would request you to go to the website and check for Updated BIOS and updates for chipset driver.
If any is available then download and install.
Check with your AC adapter if it works, Good, else I would request you to contact the manufacturer for a Main board issue.
They would replace the main board if under warranty.
unplug main base's electrical and phone jacks. wait a few minutes, plug everything back in then try to re-register the non-working handset following the menu instructions. make sure there is no phone charging in the main base at the time.
if the re-registration doesn't work, your handset is probably shot. you can buy a reconditioned one on ebay for under $30. take the battery out to find the model #.
Wow! That's awesome! Well done!! The problem, based on the fact that it is happening identically to 2 different ipods, is definitely your 'boom box'. Check the main usb connector of the boom box
If your handset is reading out of range. Check the the main base and make sure you unit has power. This can be done by placing the handset in the main base to see if the charge in use light comes on.
If your main base isn't getting power please make sure the ac adapter is plugged in and is warm to the touch. If not the ac adapter would be damaged.
Follow the below steps with the handset to solve your problem.
Press and hold the End key down and hold it.
Press and hold the # key down and hold it.
While pressing each of these keys down in order wait until the handset reads deregistration complete is seen.
Then release the keys and place the handset on the main base to register the handset.
OK here it is
leave the additional hand set base plugged in & take the hand set with you to the main phone & base.
1. unplug the main base.
2. with the main base unplugged hold the find handset button on the base.
3.with your finger still on the find hand set button plug the base back into the power.
4.charge light on main base should be flashing.
5.while the light is flashing press & hold the hash # button on the additional hand set only until it says registration complete & its all done.
Hi it sounds like the problem is with either the base unit board or the board on the phone.
Do you have one main phone plugged into phone socket and the other two are extra phones that just plug into mains and pick signal up off the main phone if this is the case then the problem will be with the main base unit.
So first thing i would do is check the cable to the phone from phone socket is secure and hasnt been trapped under furniture or somebody triped over it and damaged the wire.
If this is not the case then the problem will be with the base unti itself and as the waranty has ran out this usually means that the phone was only really supposed to last untill this time this is the same with most electrical unit you buy.
The problem could be something as simple as a bad solder on the main board near where the signal is sent from the base.
I would say that the actuall phone is not to fault because if the main phone was at fault then the other 2 would work fine.
If you are ok at taking electrical units apart and can test the board near the signal output on the base it might just be that the solder has failed after this time.
If the phone works for a short while before it dropps the calls then it more than likely is a solder problem the thing is it is difficult to get a spec sheet for these phones i will look and if find one let you know.
Have you tried plugging a different phone into the phone socket to eliminate a problem at the phone exchange let me know how you get on and ill let you know if i find anythnig for you ok
At first, when you plug the the chaeger in, you must see the led comes out. If it si not then the charger is not compatible. different voltage will not work. Second, if the led is on usually in red then you should ocme back in couple hours to check for any progress. Third, if nothing working, you now then thest to see whether your battery is dead. The way to test battery is take the battery off and plug the charger into your phone and turn it on. If your phone is on, then you need to replace the battery. If the phone is not even on, probably your main board has failed in power supply and may need to be replaced. So try one by one first to see whether you have missed something before you can make a decision that the problem is from your phone main board. Good Luck
