Replace the hard drive with a solid state hard drive as it is failing
while you have it partitioned , that is only 2 sections on the one disc and if the hard drive is failing , regardless of of the partitions , it will not read right
If you will , consider partitions as different tracks on an album and if the player is broken then none of the tracks will play properly
click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes
automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start
you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive
I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box
since its only the sectors you are having problems with just tick the bad sector box
then download partition magic which will only install on the good sectors on your hard drive
http://www.filehoo.com/download/Partition-Magic-8,0.aspx
when you download partition magic you will have the option to make rescue to disks to boot from make these disks then change your first boot device your to floppy drive this will give you options to partition then partition only the good sectors of your hard drive and install an operating system to the good partition

never run any PC with 1 bad hdd inside the PC. on the SATA port, if smart fails
move the bad drive to a USB dock or enclusure
to get to your old files if lucky.
a bad hdd will cause BIOS go nuts.
it scans it and make booting now, like 10 minutes long as BIOS tries so hard to wake up a bad drive.
if the HDD is boot drive, and bad, the OS will crash all the time.
that is because the bad drive always corrupts the oS, how can it not?
the cure is run smart tests first.
on all drives.
put in a new SSD boot drive, reload the OS fresh to the new SSD
then using USB HDD dock get back your data
if lucky off bad hdd ,some or all. pure fate there.
a hdd can be good or bad or fails smart
test, and if smart fails it has bad sectors
now and for fact are growing bad faster.
Consider this:
so we get the data files now quickly
putting the bad hdd in dock also
helps preserver the data.
when dock is turned off ,data will not get worse like that, unlike in side a PC or for sure OS booted off any bad hDD.
then plug in the docked bad drive to USB port
and get the data fast. work fast. copying.
this is how this is done correctly
old post but super good questions, not seen here much. so here is my answer
testing 1,2,3https://pcdied.com/HDD-SDD/hdd-bad-v2.ht...
the poster I think asked
why can I not use a bad hdd.?
answer you can but would be too fun to watch or makes me cry. (personally I just close my eyes watching you)
the correct answer, BUZZZZZ is do not use any bad hdd. or pay H3LL.
if you must , dock it,. first.
a docked drive is vastly more passive.
BIOS does not go nuts
and OS not corrupted now. no BSOD's
bad HDD also run super slow if at all.
