This camera has worked fine for a long time and today when it turned it on the lcd was black and all pictures that i take are black. I can review old pictures and they show on the lcd fine and the menu system shows up. I tried a different sd card and formatted the one i usually use but to no avail. Any ideas? Or is it a costly repair bill? :(

Hey Wistra,
You could try resetting your camera to the factory settings by choosing the reset to default setting in the menu. If this doesn't work the sensor on the camera is most likely broken, and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. If the camera was purchased less than a year ago the repair would most likely be covered under manufacturers’ warranty. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Allan

Hi
It sounds like either your aperture is stuck closed and no light is getting in, or your CCD is defective and it's not converting the light that enters the lens into a digital signal for the camera to record.
Unfortunately this model has design problems, we have probably had 100's of them over the years... I hate to say it, but it's probably time to replace it with something newer.
Good luck from Darntoothysam com

There was an issue with the 4000 series and the NiCd batteries I remember that had to do with the contacts in the camera. The charging circuit is in the camera so you have to make sure that the battery contacts are clean, both on the battery and in the camera.

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts,
or it could be something more serious and expensive. First try
removing the batteries and cleaning the camera contacts with a small
metal brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. If that doesn't fix the
problem, check the Kodak
Help Center by clicking on the link below. It uses a simple Q&A
format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

We had the DX4530 for 4 years and were very satisfied (took over 7000 pictures).
But recently 2 issues/problems staring to occur (not sure if they are related)
1.the preview screen sometimes goes black and then subsequently even
the picture is completely black. Sometimes when not using screen but
viewfinder happens the same.
2. Sometimes the screen is fine but the picture turns fuzzy and VERY
greenish tint, sometime pinkish/purplish (it never did it before).
Both of the problems do not happen always, it happens randomly (we are
not able to find the pattern) and not very frequently (but we missed
because of it few birthday pictures). Usually switching camera off and
then on helps. We noticed though that the occurrence of this problem is
rising and sometimes I had to switch it on/off few times.
Any tips, help?
We have the exact same problem as the original poster, ours is an easyshare DX4330.
