thank you. i set it to fax only and have to now wait and see what happens when i receive a fax. when i try to print the document from memory, it won't let me press OK twice, only once, and it keeps printing out the print report. Also, how do i get the memory light to go OFF??
    thank you.

we may be onto something here, but the problem is, I have reset it to FAX ONLY and I realize i need to change it to DRPD, as I have a distinctive ring pattern for the fax machine on my phone line. My machine is not letting me change this from FAX ONLY. can you advise me how to do this? please. i will be happy to give you thumbs up if we can fix this. it is driving me insane.
    thanks alot.

    hi Anand,
first of all, how do I rate you?? where is the button to do this? secondly, if the machine says "low ink" would that disable the fax from printing? It still copies ok and the ink reads well, so i am not replacing the cartridge, unless you think that is what is stopping it from printing the faxes out??? also, how do i erase all in the memory of the fax?? i cannot locate a clear button on the menu?
    thanks!

If you are getting a low ink message no you will not be able to fax until this is resolved. Once you replace the ink cart. then you can get to the steps where you can clear the fax memory until then the steps that we would give you will not work.

You can visit www.canon.com click on your printer model then on support and you can download the manual in this manual there will be step by step instructions on how to clear the memory on the fax. this can also be cleard once you print them keep that in mind. so first purchse ink then your going to print your faxes by hitting that button twice the reason why it will not work now is because your low on ink.

If you like this solution please hit accept.

Thanks

Our fax machine - panasonic model fp-342 can't received fax due to error display "fax memory full" . How can i fix that?

This fax machine stores the faxes in memory and then prints them out.

If it's unable to print them, is either because there is no paper or no ink.
The memory eventually gets full and stops receiving faxes.

On my Canon MX310, the display says "Waiting for Report". Fax Memory is clear, but the In Use/Memory light stays on.

Try this step ... found it on Canon's website

Issue: ERROR LCD: WAITING FOR REPORT
Solution: Set [AUTO PRINT RX] to ON (MX300 / MX310)

AUTO PRINT RX When [AUTO PRINT RX] is set to [OFF], incoming received faxes will be temporarily stored to memory and transaction reports (TX, RX and Activity) remain in memory. The default setting is [ON], which means incoming received faxes and transaction reports will automatically print. The fax machine will not automatically print a received fax and will store it in memory in the following conditions.
  • Ink is low or has run out
  • The paper size and type is not set correctly
  • Paper has run out
  • The Output Tray is closed
To set AUTO PRINT to ON, please follow these steps.
  1. Press the <FAX> button to enter the Fax menu.

  2. Press the <Menu> button. [FAX SETTINGS] is displayed

  3. Press the left or right arrow button to select [RX SETTINGS] , then press <OK> two times.

  4. Press the left arrow to select [ON], then press <OK>.

Note: When AUTO PRINT RX is set ON, a sub-menu will appear to PRINT WHEN NO INK.

  5. At sub-menu PRINT WHEN NO INK, decide if you'd like the machine to continue to print incoming received faxes if ink is low.

CAUTION: When this option is set ON, the fax machine will not monitor the ink level of the ink cartridges. If ink is low or out, received faxes will print with streaks or blank. Furthermore, once the fax is printed, it will be deleted from memory.
    1. To print received faxes when ink is low or out, press the left or right arrow to select [ON] and then press <OK>.
    2. To store received faxes in memory when ink is low or out, press the left or right arrow to select [OFF] and then press <OK>.

  6. Press the <Stop/Reset> repeatedly to return to Fax standby mode.

FAXES ARE BEING RECEIVED BUT SEEM TO BE DROPPING INTO MEMORY. WE HAVE NO MAILBOXES ESTABLISHED. WE CAN MANUALLY PRINT EACH FAX BY WAY OF THE MENU PRINT OPTION. WE WOULD LIKE THE FAXES TO GO BACK TO...

There are many different parameters to check for this problem.
Try Menu, "*" , T, to enter a soft download via internet.
To retransmission of faxes to print rerouting: menu "*", G.
One would need to have information about the servicing techinical datas changes to this machine.
If all else fails for more complicated issues place a service call on the machine.

Cannot receive fax ...

Many fax machines have little internal buffer memory and the memory serves to receive a paket of signals which arrive faster than can be printed but when it is full, it may pause so the printing portion can catch up.

Check your manual for the phrase 'buffer memory' to see if they discuss why and when this might happen.

It's possible that the machine is still on line and has just paused waiting for the buffer to reduce its contents.

Fax

From the manual:

If ink has run out while receiving a fax, if the paper size setting is incorrect, or if the paper type is set to a type other than plain paper, the fax is automatically stored in memory and <Received in memory.> is displayed. When the ink tank is replaced or the paper size/type setting is corrected, the stored fax is printed automatically.

Also, if the machine is in the process of something else (printing from computer, making a copy, scanning to computer), when a fax comes in it will be saved to memory, but it should print within a few minutes of becoming idle again.
