Hi, Jewtastik
well, is a generic problem to see ...but starting with your TV, hometheather, you should check if you have a lot bass on it, down a little the bass to see, and check if your sub is not bad.
I dunno know the brand nore the TV , so you should go and play a little with settings on sound fields on the hometheather.
good luck

Trying to get my ps3, Emerson hd tv and coby DVD938 home theater all to work together

The DVD938 only has analog audio input (2.1 channel), thats why you have only a white (left channel) and red (right channel) audio connection from your ps3 to the home theatre. There is an option called PROLOGIC in the setup menu that will simulate 5.1 with the 2.1, it basically takes the 2.1 channels and splits it into all the speakers.

No sound from tv, dvd, cable. Speaker test does work. Sound stopped suddenly when channel was changed.

What does this mean: "when channel was changed"? TV channel?? Would that mean a remote command was issued? How about FM (no external cabling)?

Can i hook up my rca dvd home theater system to my tv so i can get sound from watching tv channels which is hooked up to dish satellite? is this possible?

Yes it is possible.

All you need to do is run a cable from the Audio Out on your TV to the Audio In of the DVD.

Then you will be able to get the sound of TV channels from the DVD speakers.

I was trying to hook up durabrand 5.1 100w home theater system. I have all the speaker hook up and stuff but i can't get a picture to come up it does have sound. I am trying to hook up to digital box...

make sure the yellow rca cord is plugged into video on both home theater and cable box, if this is not helping, then at the back of the dvd player is a channel button that has a 3 and 4 setting. choose one then turn your tv channel(not your digital box) to that same setting as well
