Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

Video and audio will not turn on. I press the power button while in "standby" mode, the tv "lamp" light starts to flash slowly. It does this for a minute before going back to "standby". I have checked the following: bulb is producing bright light, 2 fans are on, the color wheel is spinning, the door switch is functioning. What are the next troubleshooting steps that will lead to a resolution? Thanks in advance. Darren

I checked all the boards and see no burn marks or swelling capacitors. The output voltage from the power supply has 5v, 12v, 33v, but no 80v. Should this be there all the time or only if powered up? Bulb is still lighting but door switch doesn't seem to change anything on start up. Still no video or audio.

The guide you recommend is for a CRT, not a DPL TV. Can you help me find the bad component?

I tried a new lamp with no improvement. Thanks anyway.

The bulb is lighting properly that means you say bulb is proper.no.not actually.the bulb has some hours in it .that it will work for that much hours.if that particular hours get completed the bulb needs replacement. also try removing and refitting the bulb.many times this resets the time hours and the tv starts functioning.but if the same problem the bulb needs replacement. just replace the bulb.try to get the orignal bulb and not the compitable bulb made by local companies.you can get it at tv company service center or at electronics shop. as the orignal bulbs works for more hours then compitable bulbs. check out. Please do rate the solution. Thank you for using fixya.keep updated. thanks

How do I stop tv going on standby

hi Shaun.
How do I get my TV out of standby mode? Press the power button once. If the TV does not turn on, observe the LED indicator, usually located on the TV's lower front panel. If the LED indicator turned off after you pressed the power button once, it is in standby mode. Press the power button once again to exit standby and turn on the TV.31 Mar 2015

Sony KDF-E50A10 stays on for 15-20 minutes then shuts off power standby light flashes green and turns back on. Replaced bulb about 6 months ago with sony bulb. Any ideas. Thanks

The reason this happens the most is because of the lamp being weak. I have not seen anything else cause this problem. You can varify this by turning the set off and wait until it shuts down totally.
with the Sony remote, press the display button, the #5 button,
volume down button, then power button. This puts you into the the factory error code mode. If you see the lamp code with multiple errors and no other errors shown, the lamp is the problem.
Most of Sonys lamps have a aprox life of 3000 hrs. Some last longer and some shorter.
I hope this helps,

Tv went off while watching a program power standby red light blinks 6 times then pauses then repeats tried unplugging unit waiting a few minutes then replugged same results nothing. can anyone help me ?...

Here's an excerpt from the Sony Manual online. And the link - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/webtree.pl?template=EN&mdl=KDF55XS955&content_id=68&category_id=11&problem_id=52

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing)
A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.

Kdf-60xs955 red continous blinking lamp light

It's in standby mode.

Do a reset and see what happens

While holding down the reset button on the remote
Press the power button on the tv
(The tv will turn itself off the back on)
Now release the reset button

It sounds like the lamp needs replaced.

How to turn off standby mode

Try this:

On the top of your remote near the power buttons there are a series of buttons that have names under them such as "TV" and "DVD". Press and hold one of those buttons for about two seconds.

Remote control code

Dish Netork does not have the code for Olevia
but you can scan for the code using the infformation
here
Remote Code Power Scan

If your brand is not listed, use the following procedure to scan through all codes.

If you start the and do not press a button within 20 seconds, the remote will end the scan automatically.

1. Turn ON the unit you want to program the remote to control.
2. Press the Mode button on the remote until the appropriate mode light is flashes
3. Press the Address button. The mode light will start flashing slowly.
4. Press the Power button. The mode light will stop flashing and stay lit.
5. Press the Up or Down arrow button to set the remote to the next code. The Down arrow button scans backward and the Up arrow button scans forward.
6. When the correct code is reached, the device (whether a TV, VCR, or other) will turn off.
7. Press the Address button to store the code in the remote control memory. If the code is valid for your remote, the mode light will blink 3 times.
8. Turn the device back ON by pressing the Power button.
9. Try some other functions to make sure you have the correct code. Occasionally the Power button may work when others do not.
10. If the other buttons work, follow the current settings procedure below to determine the current remote settings.
11. If the other buttons do not work, repeat the previous steps. The scan will resume from the last code stored.
12. The mode light will flash rapidly when the scan has returned to the starting point and all codes have been tested for that mode. The remote control may not control some device models.
