Canon MP470: "Print Head is not installed. Install Print Head"

I have the Canon color and black ink cartridges, and had them refilled. Was working great, but all of sudden I get a message on the LCD that says print head not installed. Won't let me scan, copy, or do anything. Unplugged, removed and re-installed print heads...nothing working

Any help would be great!

Some printer brands have a cute scheme that reads a "new" cartridge as good, but the refilled one has a small fuse link that is burned out by the printer. Try factory new cartridges. Unplug the printer power for a bit to reset the printer.

In my case, it was a new cartridge that was faulty. When I put the low cartridge back in the error cleared.

Just installed new ink and it says i need to install print head, what is this?

Usually this means that one or both of the cartridges is not correctly installed. Remove the cartridges and reseat them. Make sure that you do not touch the contacts and nozzles on the cartridges. If you are using refilled or non-Canon cartridges, try a set of new Canon cartridges.

Make sure the cartridges are in the correct slots and push each cartridge forward until you hear a click. Then close the unit and let the all-in-one preform its start up operations. For pictures, see your manual or the Canon support site: and search "install print head". The first result has the pictures you need.

I hope this helps.

I'm trying to use the Pixma MP470 printer at work. We haven't used it in perhaps a year b/c we only use it for work-related photos. The screen says, "Print head is not installed. Install the print head." I...

Inkjet printers needs to be used frequently. When not used for three or more months, the head gets clogged and damaged. On your case, per your notes, I believe the printer head needs to be replaced. I don't think it will be cost-effective to repair as a new head printer may be quite expensive. Today printers are cheap to be fixed.

Canon MP470 prints fine in black and red. But the blue and yellow colors (or comination thereof) will not print out on the page. Ink cartridges are fresh, although, remanufactured ones from Nukote at...

Sometimes the remanufactured cartridges sit around for a time and the ink dries at the print head. Does the ink come out freely when you touch it on a damp paper towel? If not, this may be the fault. To clear the print head, I have heated some water in the microwave for 30 seconds and put just the print head in the hot water for a few seconds. If no microwave, use hottest available tap water. I have used a refill syringe to add a little pressure through the filler hole while in the water to purge the print head. I now refill my own, but have bought the same product and needed to purge them. I have the same printer. If this is not the cure , let me know, we can find the solution.

Refilled ink cartridge wont work. Getting message saying ink is l

Many 'refilled' cartridges aren't refilled. Try a new c artridge and see what happens. If it still doesn't work, you need a new print head.

Ink cartridge light keeps blinking

you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.
