Question about Lite On LH-20A1H DVD RW Dual Layer Burner

1 Answer

Sony Player I have a Sony cd player in my car (is about ten years old now but was expensive) and find that it won''t play burned discs although they play fine on all the players in my home.  I have bought several different kinds of disc even the most expensive ones with the same result. I was recently told it maybe  because I am using CD-R discs and that Sony machines often need CD+R discs.  I have searched for these online and cannot find a supplier.  Its a pain in the butt as it means I can't listen to the music I have paid to download and have to go and buy CD's instead. Can you please advise? Thanks Gail

I have just purchased an HP Desktop computer and when I burn a Cd for music, everyting seems to work ok but when I try to play that CD on another player in my home, it won't play. Is there a setting...

Check the type of the blank CD/DVD you are using. Certain players won't be able to play CD-RW for instance.

If that doesn't solve the problem you might try to slow down your burn speed for a better quality CD/DVD. Sometimes a faster burn speed will lower the quality and other devices can have trouble reading these.

I have a Sony DVD DRU-820A burner. When I insert a dvd--either a blank one to burn or a DVD disc to view--the name of the drive switches from DVD-RAM Drive (D:) to CD Drive (D:). The burner no longer burns...

The device is _partially_ broken -- the part that reads/writes DVD media is "dead".

Spend $40 to purchase a new CD/DVD reader/writer, to replace the "dead" unit.

Can't get Backpack to let me convert to audio .WAV files.
if you download the free version of ashampoo burning studio9 it will burn cd's in the "au" audio format that cd's use. You must also make sure the car stereo will actually play a cdr disc, as some don't.

My dvd player will play music and movies ,but will not burn dvd's.It always says's the dvd is full, although it is new.what can I do . Gary

First, you need to make sure that the disc is empty.

Second, try to re-install the driver of your player/writer. And that should fix the problem.

Good luck!

Drive won,t play discs and sometime won,t reconize that a disc is

If the "bad" disks work fine in some other DVD-player, then it's time to spend $40 and buy a new DVD-writer.

Or, if your current DVD-player is under the manufacturer's warranty, exercise the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced.

DVD disk

check to see what format your computer burns on.[ex:dvd-r, dvd-rw,dvd-+r,dvd-+rw]different dvd players play certain dvd formats.the format for burning on your computer is probably different from the dvd players that aren't playing the also must finalize the burned disc.
good luck

No sound on dvd recording from video cam

You have to convert your video to DVD format (MPEG-2 or VOB) at first, otherwise normal DVD player cant read and play your burned DVD. I always use avs video tools to convert and burn video to DVD to play on my TV, my friends recommend it to me, it's easy to use and works pretty well for me, you may download it for a try, and here is a guide about how to use it

Burned CD's won't play in auto CD player

I had the problem of burned CD's not playing in my car. I used a CD-R and burned it at "slow" burn rate. Now I don't have a problem with playing the cd's in my car player. Try it, it worked for me.

Burned CDs don't play properly

if it won't play right when you put it in the cd may be that the burning system that you're using is off and needs to be updated or trashed for a new that?
