Hi John:
Two stroke (also called 2-cycle) Mix at 50:1
Some of the Craftsman units were 4 stroke, supposedly environmentally responsible. They took straight gas and had oil in the crank case. Came with a dip-stick to check it.
Personally, I had one and it was the WORST piece of equipment I ever bought from Sears.
I'm back to a 2 stroke STIHL and it is GREAT!

24/1 is the correct ratio. I certainly wouldn't go 50/1 but you could split the difference with a good synthetic.

What is the petrol to oil ratio in a two stroke mixture
Ratios range by machine and manufacturer from about 32:1 up to 50:1. 40:1 is most common.

32:1 4oz. oil/US gallon gas
40:1 3.2 oz oil/US gallon gas
50:1 2.56 oz oil/US gallon gas

Oil to gas mixture for a craftsman 3.75 hp pressure washer
There is universal 2 cycle oil available (pro-mix at Lowe's for example) that is good for all ratios from 16:1 to 50:1. With this oil you add the same amount of oil to the gas independent of ratio required. One gas can, no ratio worries. Hope this helps.
