Question about Labtec Optical PS2 911544-0914 Mouse

1 Answer

Mouse problem. Hi, I had a targus mouse that stopped working, so I went out and bought a labtec wireless optical mouse.800 m/n: m-rby127. I've inserted the disc, the computer has created the necessary file and all that jazz saved onto my laptop. When I went the control panel and clicked on mouse, my laptop tells me " unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device driver?" the end result is the mouse still does'nt work. I need your assistance please.

My touchpad works but none of the USB ports are accepting peripheral mice, interestingly a point I forgot my laptop told me a few days ago that Windows(I think, I have xp) does not recognise the peripheral device in port xxx. It was refering to the targus plug in mouse. But now I've purchased a Labtec wireless optical mouse 800. I've loaded the Labtec file via disc maybe it needs me to open the file??

Thanks accordianman for your solutions, they got me thinking. I borrowed a dell mouse and plugged it in and it actually worked! So much for my new mouse. It must be a dud.

I replaced my hp wired rubber ball mouse with a Labtec 800 on the serial port and then could not control the mouse pointer half the time. It flys off the screen and jumps around on its own then settles down and is controllable for a short while then again goes ballistic. Im running Vista home premium which has most drivers onboard but thinking the disk that came with the mouse might have a better driver, I installed it. What a mistake... the mouse pointer then locked in the middle of the screen and I lost all control of my computer. Using the window key, I was able to open my control panel and delete this crappy program. The pointer was still locked but it would work from the usb port. It still randomly jumps off the screen. Moving the receiver around has no effect on the overall operation. Hooked it up on my old XP prof computer and got same results. Im ready to chuck this piece of crap and use my wired mouse unless there is a positive fix available.

Ahah! Go to device mgr in your desktop and make sure the port is "always on". Windows XP has the port disable if there is no activity after about 10 minutes...accordianman

Control Panel>Performance and Maint>System>Hardware>Device Mgr>Universal Serial Buss controllers>. Select the proper parameters there and that Should be it. (If that's my guess!)... accordianman

My mouse stopped working, it does move once in awhile. I don't see any batteries. Is it time for a new one? Any suggestions. It is only 6 months old.

The battery compartment can be accessed in this mouse (Targus pawm002e) by sliding off the top cover of the mouse.
It's not located on the bottom of the mouse, as usual, so it may be hard to figure out at first.

Good luck, and please come back with a rating/testimonial if helped :)

Labtec wireless desktop.

Could be radio interference from somewhere. I tracked my similar mouse problem down to emissions from the ethernet adapter that connects over the house mains wiring. Try the using the mouse close to the receiver, if it works ok interference is likely.
