If your power head is electric you likely have an electrical problem you will need to trace, if it is an air driven turbo nozzle your airflow may be restricted. The filters may need replaced.

SOURCE: power head to my compact dyson just stopped

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The Turbine head on the DC11 range is not powered by a motor, it is air driven. If the performance of this tool has reduced, this is most likely caused by a dirty filter or a blockage in the head or the machine.

To clear, please visit our support section online at www.dyson.com.

If you have a different product that does have a motorised head, you will also be able to locate information on how to reolve this via the online support section.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards
Darran

SOURCE: My Power head on my Dyson Animal DC39 will not stay spinning. Suction Issue?

There should be a red insert on the right-hand side on the cylindrical bulge behind the brush cylinder. Check that this is moving when you push the button. The red insert should stay pushed in for the brush to rotate. The insert moves in an out as well as rotates in order to lock in the 'in' position. Mine is a little sticky on the rotation and I need to shake the brush head a little in order to get it to rotate and lock.

I have a dyson dc29 and I removed brush to clean now when I put back I dont get a click and it is not moving and pops right back out what am i doing wrong

You may have broken the Retaining Tab. First Clean the Pin Hole where it slides into to ensure it has the opportuunity to lock? Did you over stretch the locking Mechanism?

The rotating brushes on my floor setting keep stopping on carpet - even though nothing is clogging it. I have to turn my vacuum off and then back on to get it to start spinning again.

There are two things that cause this.

1) The suction is not good and is not making the turbine head run. Clean the filters/ head and check the hose for blockages

2) The Turbo head has more friction than it should. Remove the brushes from the turbo head and remove all hair etc from the bearings with tweezers.

If it still does not work the the most common problem is the bearing retainer in the turbo head has heated up and come loose. This is a very hard repair I do but for most they should buy a new turbo-head.

How do you take apart a dc29

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

We'd advise against dismantling your DC29 any further than is shown in the User guide, as this could invalidate your Dyson warranty.
