Connecting a computer to a LX3600D Home system

Lots of people are doing this and part depends on what your home theatre has to offer in the way of connections.

For sound most use the LINE OUT on a computer or laptop and connect that to a suitable input on the receiver using a 3.5mm to stereo phono lead.

If you are lucky enough to have an OPTICAL sound out on your computer and one on the home system that would be a better option.

For the video side again it depends on what your computer has to offer

If it has DVI and your TV or home system has DMI then that is the very best option. remember to lower the resolution on the computer first and to check and of your graphics card options for dual display. A DVI to HDMI lead is needed for that

Nvidia graphics cards seem to work best in this area.

If you have a VGA connector on your TV that is another great option and you would only need a VGA lead.

Some cards and laptops have S-VIDEO out. Lots of TV's and home systems have these and the display is quite reasonable. If using S-video connections use a GOOD quality cable.

Some people can only obtain a black and white picture so check your graphics card did not come with any special adaptor.

Another method is composite video Even that is not always 100%

Some laptops need a special S-video adaptor which is just a short little cable to properly enable the S-video and convert S-video to composite. That is probably the worst way to do it.

Using a VGA to component lead is also an option but results vary wildly from no picture to quite good. A lot depends on the quality of the lead once again.

I use the optical sound and DMI lead to power a 50" Sony with great sound and picture.

Pss110/5 system problem

The PSS110 is not fully compatible with Vista.

You can download the Philips Device Manager for the PSS110 from:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=GB&slg=ENG&cat=MP3_PLAYERS_CA&sct=SHOQBOX_SU&session=20080627080823_82.5.154.61&grp=PORTABLE_ENTERTAINMENT_GR&ctn=PSS110/05&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

The software is not Vista compatible so you will have to run it on an XP machine.

Run the Device Manager and select the repair option. This will update the firmware and replace the system files.

Make sure the player is connected to the mains during this process.

Use the Philips Device Manager

USB and speakers not working.

Have you got..
  1. A USB cable from the computer connected to the USB input on the monitor? It needs that cable to supply USB outputs from the monitor. The monitor acts as a USB hub.
  2. The speakers on the monitor also require a cable from the soundcard on your computer to the sound input of the monitor.

Sounds like the firmware has corrupted. Install and run the Firmware Update software from the product CD.

Select the repair option and follow the on-screen prompts. This will re-load the firmware and should get your player working again.

Philips shoqbox

You have a file error: a system file may be missing or you have a format error on the SHOQBOX. To fix this problem: 1. Connect the SHOQBOX to the computer using the supplied USB cable. 2. Plug your SHOQBOX into a wall outlet with the supplied AC adapter. 3. Launch the Device Manager at Start->Programs->Philips->Philips->PSS110 (or the model number of your SHOQBOX) on your PC. * IMPORTANT: All music & content of your SHOQBOX will be erased once the factory setting is restored. 4. A dialogue box will pop up; click Restore and OK to confirm and start restoring the unit to its factory setting. 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restoration. 6. The Device Manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed. 7. Transfer a couple of songs into your SHOQBOX to confirm if the SHOQBOX has fully recovered all the files. 8. Close all opened applications and safely remove your SHOQBOX by clicking on the icon on your Windows task bar tray. 9. When prompted, ?The USB Mass Storage Device can now be safely removed from the system?, click OK and unplug your SHOQBOX. 10. Your player will display ?UPGRADING FIRMWARE?? once disconnected from the computer. 11. After firmware upgrade is complete, it will reset itself, showing the PHILIPS splash screen. 12. Press to switch on the player again.
