SOURCE: Model Sony SXRD Projection

have to replace the lamp... part xl-5100... it's on the left side of the TV (if you are working from the back of the TV). there is one small screw that secures the door to the television1.gif. once you remove that door, the lamp is righ there with the labels that say pull... rempove this part. you'll likely see the shattered bulb on the inside. replace this part and the TV should be as good as new. you will have to call around to find one in stock though. the cost of the lamp is right around $250.00

this works for 50 in as well

SOURCE: images on tv are green sony 60 in projection sxrd-

If it's bright green with light lines from side to side the green gun is shorting out. You would need to take the front off and look at the neck of the tubes. See if all three filiments are working. It will be a dim glowing in the neck of each tube. If you have filiment voltage but no red gun you may have bad solder connections on the CRT modules but being it's a Sony it could be a bad green Tube. If the green gun is shorting out call around to TV shops in your area and ask them if they have a Beltron or BNK Picture Tube Rejuvenator. Sometimes the short can be cleared using the right test equipment. Ask them how much they would charge you to shoot the tube if that's your problem. If it's no Red it may be bad solder connections on the CRT modules. I hope this helps.

This link has the instructions on how to fix this problem and other similar problems. You
have nothing to lose, so I recommend that you try it.

This works with the two other colors, blue and green also. Not all models of Sony Projection
TVs have the red, green, and blue pots in the same order as the picture that is listed on
this link, so you may want to google search for your model's service manual. The service
manual can also help you be able to remove the cover for your particular model of TV. I was
able to find the service manual for my model, and sure enough, the order of the pots are
reversed on mine, so I would have been adjusting the wrong color. Read all of the comments
on this link too, because you can find other helpful tips and may even find someone with the
same model of TV as you that gives more specific instructions for your model.

Fare well. :)

P.S. You can also clean the mirrors and dry dust while you're in there which can help with blurriness and focus. You may have to adjust all three colors to get the picture back.

Just replaced lamp/housing and now tv turns off after 2 minutes of being on. Green light flashes continually(about 30 sec.) then tv turns back on and the cycle continues. The tv is a sony bravia...

Strange situation, have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and letting the TV cool. I have a older 2006 Sony SXRD rear projection and it takes forever to turn back on if you shut it off then turn it back on. Check this link and maybe its giving you a blinking code. Try counting the number of blinks. Hope this helps.
