Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
I was having problems a few weeks ago with the screen randomly freezing up every time I turned it on, but when I removed my ethernet cable so I couldn't connect to xbox live, it stopped freezing, now, out of nowhere, even though I played a game literally last evening, the disc drive will spin for about 2 seconds as it displays "Reading" and then suddenly it stops and says "Open Tray"
I haven't even had my xbox for a year, its a halo 3 special edition that never sold and was unopened when I got it.
Does the system model have anything to do with it?
Helps gamers, please stop copying and pasting answers to questions. Anyways, I've said this in other similar questions on Fixya. But the main reason this happens is because of the certain disk drive. From my experience, the problems mostly lie within the Benq drive. You can find which drive you have without dismantling your xbox here.
I hope this helps.

After taking the entire drive apart i found that the laser / moter assembly was offset. this ment that the disk was tilted 1degree towards the laser and intern hittng the laser assembly that so many peopl think is "laser burn" which actualy is the disk physically hitting the laser. how u fix this is as easy as adjusting two screws were the moter and the laser/ tray assembly meat. now thses arnt nomal phillips, flat head or torx scews. i found that stickin a drill bit in the screw head annd turnin it with some pliers did the trick. this fixes the open tray error for good unless the disk is causing it. IF anyone gets open tray ocasionally this should stop it for good. Now you said that it would freez with enternet pluged in? I found that this could be cause by an either slow router or slow reciever. try to see if a derect connection to your modem could be that problem. It also could be as easy as cleaning the inside of drive. also it could be the inner ring of the disk being to dirty
