Black vertical line

This seems to be a problem with some older panels. If you are prepared to tackle the problem yourself then try the following.
WARNING there are some very high voltages within the TV which can be LETHAL so the greatest of care should be taken.

With the back of the TV removed, use a hair dryer and apply warm air to all the ribbon cables in turn until you find the one which causes the fault to disappear. Now turn your attention to the faulty ribbon and remake the connections as necessary.

Picture fades colors get bright and shadowy

Its not a "capacitor" problem. Does the picture look like its in 3D, ie colored ghosts around images? If so, its a convergence failure. You'll need to replace the convergence output ICs and a couple of fuse. Also, there is a jumper connection that needs to be re-soldered or it will happen again. You should probably contact a Toshiba authorized service center to resolve this. Expect to spend $400-500

Thin vertical line appears on projector

I have found that vertical lines that suddenly appear from projectors are due to poorly connected cables. Sut off your projector and wait for the fan to go off. Then unplug the connectors from the computer to the projector and secure them again, making sure to go all the way. Hope this helps.
