SOURCE: steam from rowenta preassure iron and steamer

Hi, It is likely you have too much residual water in the iron or have mineral deposits from the tap water you have been using. Rowenta recommends that you use clear filtered drinking or bottled water only. I believe them because the system uses brass & aluminum throughout, so salts or acids would cause corrosion. To clean the system totally, after each ironing session before I put it away, I remove the blue reservoir completely, and run the burst of steam several times until the boiler is empty, and red light indicates it is out of water. I shut the power off and unplug. Wait at least an hour or so, access the boiler tank plug on side & if it is cool to the touch, remove it using a coin (quarter), drain and flush the tank several times with the cleaning tube that came with unit or filtered/drinking bottled water several times over the kitchen sink. Finally, drain all the water completely out of the boiler (I leave the plug & cover off to making sure it is completely dry before putting everything back together, ready for the next time). After several use cycles of the above should clear out the debris. My 1st experience with a used DG980 had exactly the same problem. P.S. before ironing the first article, use several bursts of steam away from the ironing board surface to clear out any standing water that was is in the system. Hope this helps :O)

SOURCE: steam gauge is broken and iron will not produce steam

http://www.fixitclub.com/Parts_Components/Appliance_Controls.shtml click the link  Maintenance and repair tools you'll need to fix an electric iron include these:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Toothpicks or pipe cleaners
  • Sewing needle
  • Commercial electric iron cleaning solution or vinegar and water
  • Commercial soleplate cleaner or baking soda and water
  • Steel wool
  • Emery cloth
  • Metal cooking pot
you will need a speacial tool screw driver  also called as g5 screw driver to open it.available at local repair store. If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electrical cord, and check the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide) and replace if necessary.
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide).
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle (see below).
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

SOURCE: MY rowenta Iron wont produce steam. IT heats up

Sounds like the Steam control valve is blocked or not opening. try cleaning the iron with a kit from wallmart or similar store. Failing that :It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.

SOURCE: My Rowenta DG8030 steam iron

treat it like a coffee maker mix some white vinegar and water then run that solution through the tank. hold it over a sink of course then rinse out with clean tap water. In the future use distilled water and you wont have that problem again for quite some time.

Trigger button broke during ironing. What to do?????

The fix is easy, order the trigger that has an actuating tab that is probably broken off. Gently pry up the blue cushion from the front to the back near the cord and you will see the tab lying over the switch. I order my parts from the Rowenta Region Service Center below:

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/
or tech service: [email protected]

Keep us informed as you resolve and solve the problem. It is a fine machine and well worth the repair.
