Did you move this copier recently?

Without spending too much troubleshooting, lets separate the collater and the copier.

Clean both ends and spend more time on the contacts and magnetic part,

The last item to inspect is the cord.

During a move, the mover can damage the cord and stop sending the CLOSED signal to copier.

So to sum it up,clean contacts and check cable for damage.

Good luck

Back in my Canon copier day,the unit is long and we has to add shims to level it.

In order to fix you contact problem you has to locate the locking system that send a CLOSED signal to the copier.

It can be a micro switch,BIG contacts, magnetic sensor or locking latch on both side of the unit.

Make the connection and add the shim on the floor to keep the contact.

DO NOT SEE THE CABLE that connect between the copier and collater?

Make sure it's in good condition.

Had a mfx-2830 donate to our church. Looks like it has a collator on it but see no option to select to collate. Any ideas?

The collate button is an electronic one on the LCD panel...not a separate button.
Now if the display is not registering the "finisher" / collator as being there then it is possible that something is wrong .. maybe the collator/finisher was physically installed onto the machine but maybe the electrical connectors were not plugged in. Ask the person/company that donated it if it was working.

Second hand Ricoh FT7950. Paper wont feed from

Going strictly from memory as this is an older model.
With the machine sitting ready to make a copy open the finisher door and close it . Are there any signs of life ie rollers spin tray moves stpler homes up?
IF yes I would look at the finisher entrance sensor as these get pretty dirty ith paper dust(or could be out of alinment from moving.

IF No then I would look at the finisher connector inspect for any damage .
Hope this gets you in the right area

I am running Microsoft Word 2003 and have an HP 1320n printer. My problem is that when I print more than 1 copy the pages do not collate even if the collate box is ticked in the print dialogue book and so...

HP 1320 print driver is a universal print driver covering several printer models.  Collating only works on HP printers if you have a multiple exit tray system for commercial based laser printers similar to finishers on a copier.  They have to have room to keep the copier together before they can be collated.  On a standard configured 1320 there lacks any space for finishing tasks.

KONICA MINOLTA C450 VXL Printer - When stapling multiple copies it staples all the copies together rather than each one separately as required. I use vista operating system.

There is an issue with the Konica Print Driver and the MS Print Driver. If Collate is turned on in both the drivers, you will get this problem.

The solution is to turn off Collate on one of the Drivers. Usually you will have an initial Print Dialog window that pops up when you can select your printer, how many copies and if to collate or not. De-select Collate. Then you should also see Preferences Tab. If you select that tab, select Collate and Staple, your print jobs should now Collate and Staple correctly.
