My Pentair pump is just 2 years old and it was working good yesterday I turned off I turned it on in now it humms for a minute or 2 then it just turns off completely how do I fix this

make sure gas pressure is correct if too low it will overheat or possible blocked burner tubes

try turning the shaft of the pump take off back turn by hand sounds like rust

since it's a new install is voltage set correct on motor ? this seems possible due to short run time you report

It could be the capacitor again, but most likely if it stopped while running, its not that, unless you had a brief power failure. The motor may have a built in thermal overload which turned the pump off. If it only humms then it could either be locked up by something in the impller, or could be the bearings in the motor have failed. If the motor doesn't smell "burnt" then you might stand a change to disassemble the pump. Disassemble the motor and replace bearings. Replace the mechanical seal while you have it apart. OR you could buy a new motor, as it is 10 years old.

You might want to pull the drive wheels and see if their might be a small pebel stuck in the drive gears on the wheel.

We need more info. Which control system is it? Suntouch, easytouch, intellitouch.......? It sounds like a programming problem in the controller.
