I have an older electric ez go cart, like 84 I think. There are 4 wires running to back where one connects to a spring looking thing. That spring is glowing red hot. Any suggestions?

That is your speed resistor coils and they are supposed to get hot. Electric current passes though those coils on the way to the motor. When all coils are in circuit, then that is your slowest speed. Check the coils, no broken loops and no loops touching each other. and check the cable connections also (corrosion, loose, etc)

SOURCE: Electric dryer. We replaced

HI. The thermostats in this particular case will be the focal point for your troubleshooting. I would recommend to test all that are included in the unit, especially, the high limit thermostat. I believe this will be the culprit. Be sure that the unit is well ventilated, also. clean out the entire ventilating assembly, if needed.
Thermostat testing procedure:

To test the thermostats or fuse, set your multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. You should get a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, the thermostats should have a reading of zero. When the thermostats are heated to their limit temperature, they should switch off and you should get a reading of infinity. The fuse should be tested at room temperature for continuity.

NOTE_ If all temperature monitoring devices test out ok; Replace the main control device.

SOURCE: drier works but doesn't get

Hello,

These 2 things your describing are they on the housing where the heat element or the housing where the lint filter is??
i suspect they are the housing where the lint filter goes and the white on is the thermal fuse and it is good because it has contunuty on it (if it were bad the dryer would not start) the one w/4 wires is the cycling thermostat annd it too is good...the red wires will have continuty and the purple wires will not.

NOW THEN WHAT YOU NEED TO CHECK is the heat element for continuty AND both of the thermostat on the housing where the element fits BOTH t-stats on that housing should have continuty.

1984 EZ GO WILL GO NORMAL SPEED IN REVERSE BUT NOT IN THE FORWARD DIRECTION

I am guessing that your cart has 3 batteries on each side and the controls are between the batteries. If that is the case there is a reverse cable that is not connected to the main positive but to another positive battery post. If this sounds like your cart then I would check the condition of the batteries from where the reverse wire is connected and to the main positive battery. Some older carts use less batteries for reverse but uses all six for forward.

Hope this helps.

Ez go electric golf cart

Need to check to see if the cart has a "resistor" style speed control. Older models will possible have this. It could be a bad resistor. Remember the old slot car controllers. Look closely at the pedal assembly. If it has a plug, disconnect it and see if the resistance between pins varies with pedal position and if you hit a dead spot.

Be careful to unplug batteries. 36V- 48V battery packs have a lot of power.

dodge doesnt use the best electrical wiring.
its more likely the radio itself to be the problem and the poor contact connections in wiring .
solution is go to the junkyard and get another radio and wiring harness.
it will dissconect, its ez to remove and install chrysler radio.

just about ant chrysler radio from 84 -2002 will work.
just take old radio out and look at connecter diagram to verify.

Want to connect electric lights to ez-go electric golf cart. It is a six battery system and I want to simply add a front light and rear red light.

You said you have 6 batteries. Are they 6 volt or 8 volt? Hint-- 6 volt has three holes in the top and an 8 volt has 4 holes on top of the battery. Battery manufacturers recommend the use of a voltage reducer wired to the whole bank. This take the 36 or 48 volts down to 12 volts and is regulated. this is recommended so as not to stress just 2 batteries. If you have 6 volt batteries, you can use any 2 that are wired in series.
