Question about Gaggia Syncrony Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Hello, I have an 18-month old Gaggia Syncrony Digital machine. Yesterday, when I tried to run Steam, I kept getting a message on the display that told me to Ventilate. So I did that again and again and again. I managed to get one cup of coffee from the machine but the Ventilate message kept returning. Also, water was seeping from somewhere within the machine - I can't tell where. So I removed and thoroughly cleaned and dried the Brew Group unit. I hoped this would have fixed things - but no. I still get Ventilate and I still have the leak coming from somewhere. Can you advise me please? Godfrey Pye

Hello and thank you for trying to help with my problem. I have done the thing with the steam wand and have let water run out. I have done this a lot.
The message eventually disappears but will then appear again, almost immediately afterwards.

So it seems that a connection may be loose as it does leak.

Welding the tank will have to be done by a professional of course - but if the valves have become loose, is there a way that I can tighten myself?
    Thank you.

the valves are at the ends of the water tank pipe.the vask in which water is filled and through which the water flows out.this is a pipe type assembly.at the ends there are valves.check out that.
    thanks for keeping updated.

Hello again, I have found the pipe you mention and water does drip from it when I open the knob and Ventilate.
The pipe itself is wet, which suggests that the water is leaking from the upper end, i.e. the end nearer to the tank - not the end that goes into the door of the machine.
Do you believe that an untrained person (me) can find and tighten the valve easily (in which case, what kind of tool would I need?) - or would you recommend that I take the machine in to a dealer?
I hope I'm not driving you crazy.

OK thanks, I'll take it to a dealer - I will probably break it further if I attempt to fix it.
However, at least I know what the problem is now, thanks to you.
I will leave you alone now - thank you.
I will also rate your assistance.

Yes, the solution sorted out the problem thanks to charlymonty.
The fix might be another thing but at least I know what's broken.

When your machine displays this message, you need to place an empty cup under the steam wand, open the steam valve, and let hot water run out of it into the cup until the message is gone. The only cause for concern is if this process does not remove the message. That message can be a default message for other, more significant hardware issues.
IF STILL THE SAME MESSAGE DISPLAYS AGAIN THEN.
This message comes on when the machine is not getting water into the boiler. However, the way to remedy this is by pulling water through the tap. If this doesn't help, it is likely that a connection has gotten looSE AND IT WILL LEAK from the water pipe of the water tank and that has to be checked and welded.it can also be from the valves getting loose.that has to be tightned.due to this leakage the ventilation procedure does not get completed.
Please do rate the solution. Thank you for using fixya.keep updated. thanks

no not all its your full right to ask the details.thats why you pay.
but if its possible for you to get it to the dealer it will be advisable, because the parts if gets cracked or bent or broken only service center supplies this part no other company makes this parts.and they usually sell a very normal part at very high rates for replacement.and if you want to try yourself you can use some screwdriver and a nut tight holding tool and a clipper to hold it tight while moving the nuts.this will help.
all can be easily available at local electronics shop.
but if find it tough the service center is advisable.
    thanks.keep updated.

The steam valve has been leaking on the inside for awhile, the steam condensed on the display board. You will have to replace the steam valve assembly and maybe the display board.

Check the end of the steam spout that may be blocked, use a paperclip to clear. If you still get the same result then the machine needs to be descaled.

Water is leaking, while the machine heats water for steaming

The steam valve tap rod needs to be replaced, or check machine if it has a plastic steam valve, Gaggia designed a new Stainless steel steam valve for the compact machine.
