Blue smoke is oil , check oil level on dipstick if vehicle was just over filled you might get lucky and that could be the problem. If not the piston rings are not clear the oil off and it's burning in the chamber

Did you overfill your car with oil? Did you check the dipstick? Is that why you are thinking there's too much oil? What color is the smoke coming out of the exhaust? If it's white, you could have an issue with the piston rings, as the oil burns it's leaking out through the cylinder piston rings if they are worn down.

Burning smell

Hehe...Well, unfortunately without smelling it, or looking at the vehicle, there's not much I can do for you here. Check underneath for oil leaks getting onto the hot exhaust, or maybe a plastic bag stuck to exhaust, etc. Good luck.

Smoking from under hood

A leak of some fluid, probably oil, dripping onto the exhaust. This smells terrible, and it only needs a drop or two.

ALOT OF SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST

Blue smoke is oil and means you have internal engine damage.
White smoke with a sweet smell means you have a blown head gasket (check antifreeze, if it's low that is another sign)
White smoke with no real smell is water in the gas tank. Grab some water remover.
Black smoke is a sign your burning to much gas, you need a tune up.

1987 accord LX, 2.0L, carb. Dumping gas into the oil. massive white smoke out of tailpipe. idles normal.

sounds more like coolant getting in to your engine or a bad rad.if exhaust was dark and smells of oil then woud be rings allowing oil into engine white exhaust indicates water or coolant in engine I would have a reputable garage check this for you also check to see if you enginge block has streaks of oil onit and even outside fenders if this is so either exhaust problem could indicate a cracked block

1995 dodge stratus smells like something burning, can't find any leaks. Smoke at back of motor. Temp gauge goes half way when I smell it. It never runs hot. What can this be???

sounds like oil leaking on the exhaust, this can be engine oil or power steering fluid, have the car put up in the air and checked, this can cause a fire if not repaired.
