Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

Unit runs fine until it reaches temp and then you hear relay clicking and the compressor tries to restart and hums and the relays continue to click. If you shut it off for a few minutes it runs fine until it reaches temp again and the clicking begins again.

Sounds like either the temp unit or sensor may need to be replaced. You should also check the resistance of your relays with a multi-meter to check that they are not causing the problem. Checking the power from power-supply would probably be a last thing to check for.

Refrigerator clicks then hums but does not get the compressor going. Bad compressor - how do you test if starter switch or compressor?

The clicking sound you hear is the overload relay trying to start the compressor. The humming sound is the compressor. Purchase a overload relay kit. Unplug the unit. Remove the bottom back cover. On the side of the compressor is a black box. Usually held on by hard wire clips. Remove the cover. Inspect for burned wires. Take note of the relay components. Remove them and lay them out in the order and orientation in which they were removed. If you see burn marks on the you have a bad relay, also the white 'V' shaped component - shake it. If it rattles it is bad. Replace with the new overload. If everything looks good. With a multi-meter measure the Ohms across the three pins on the compressor. You will get One high reading. Across the other two you will get lower readings. The two lower readings when added together must equal the high reading. If they do not you have a bad compressor. To replace a compressor is a major repair. The cost is usually $600.00-$750.00.

Rule of thumb; "If the repair cost is 1/3 or more of your initial purchase price of the unit - Buy a new unit".

Not freezing or cooling and compressor clicking on and off

From your description it sounds like the start components (start relay, overload and capacitor) are having problems. The clicking you hear is probably the overload kicking out to protect the compressor. It is quite possible that the compressor simply has gotten too hot and after sitting a while will restart when plugged back in. The start components are not generally considered 'user serviceable' parts. When the compressor has cooled to pretty much room temp, plug it in and be listening for those clicks. If you hear them, unplug it because it could eventually damage the compressor. Those components give the compressor an extra jolt to get the compressor running then they drop out of the circuit. If the compressor doesn't start, it creates heat until the overload drops out.

Neither the freezer or fridge get cold. In fact, both compartments are warmer the room temp. The light comedy on and you can hear it run but you can hear a click like the compressor is trying to kick on. ...

the clicking is the compressor overload tripping. you can try a relay kit part number RCO410 available at any appliance parts supplier. this replaces the relay, overload and start capacitor. you might want to check continuity on the compressor terminals first and check for a short to ground. If shorted or open then the compressor is bad.

may be relay trying to start compressor. If you hear it hum then make a click and go silent for a few min. then try again I would try the relay pack before buying a new one . A compressor is very expensive and must be done by qualified tech.

I hear a motor sound like a click and a hum over and over. the freezer seems to have a slight frost

that clicking sound is the clixon. when the motor is siesed, it will do that. Try switching the freezer off for1 hour and retry. If it continues to click, then the compressor must be replaced.

Refrigerator starts -runs for two weeks, compressor won't restart

It might be but I would first check the condenser to see if it's blocked or if the condenser fan (if it has one) is not working. The "buzzing/humming/ticking" sounds you're hearing is the compressor trying to restart after it became locked down. Excessive pressures in the system or compressor overheating is usually the cause although sometimes the bearings in the compressor simply lock up.
Check to see if the fridge cycles on and off by the thermostat. If it doesn't cycle and just keeps running then the thermostat is bad and that can cause compressor failure thanks to "slugging". If it does then you want to check the defrost timer. Turn the timer's dial until it clicks into defrost and see if it comes out on its own. Check if the compressor has trouble starting after defrost. If it stays in defrost the timer is shot. If the timer times out and the compressor will not restart then the relay might be bad or, the compressor might be going bad.
A 3in1 relay/capacitor/overload might help out and give the unit a little longer time but sooner or later it will go.

Ruud achiever compressor not running

Relay could be problem. See if thermostat makes relay click. If it does and you hear compressor try to run when it closes, everything is good in control circiut. Then check Start and Run capacitors. May be just one capacitor with 3 terminals on it. If there is any oil leaking out of it or if its swelled, Thats the problem, Replace it with same size capacitor. Mark wires before you remove them. If you hear relay try to close but no sound from the compressor, Check the High Pressure switch. They usually have a red reset button. If its tripped, Could be the condensor fan motor or grass and **** blocking air flow on condensor coil. If you hear no compressor noise and high pressure switch is not tripped but relay acts like its working, Replace relay. DANGER!!! High Voltage!!! Make sure that all power is off of both units before touching wires. Hope this helps. Let me know. Am on yahoo IM as kstfas if you yahoo.
