Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Pictures are blurry, it's been dropped

With my DSC-W50, the pictures are blurry on most, if not all, settings, it's been dropped a few times. Is the repair cost about the same as just buying a new camera, whether it be a Sony or a Kodak or some other brand? We're guessing repair is about $150 and a new camera is $250 or under for a simple point and shoot.

You can send back to sony, go to there web site. Repair of no questions asked is $95 plus shipping to and from. Cheaper to buy a new camera. The new cameras are now around $120.

Most likely the motor mecanisim was damaged when you dropped it. was unable to locate a sony dealer in nepal, You could try Sears if there is one in nepal.

Sony DSC-W50 takes white pictures

Reset in the menu ... RESET ALL or something like that will return the setting back to factory.
You could also look at your settings in the menu and check the white settings for the picture taking modes.

There is a long delay taking pictures

Check to see if the self-timer is on. You can set the timer to 0, 2, or 10 sec. A 2 sec. delay will help to prevent blurry pictures. But setting the self-timer to 0 will take the picture as soon as you push the button.

You probably got some condensation on the lens from going in and outside. You should be able to go to a Wolf Camera or similar store and have it cleaned.

This is a known problem I believe due to a bad batch off CCD.s Tell Sony Technical support about it. If this camera falls into the above category it will be replaced free of charge
