If it doesnt turn over check battery and connections ----if it is turning over and no start possible fuel pump but check and remove fuel pump relay it is located in trunk on drivers side fender behind fabric cut out these have a tendency to overheat and pop
Bad fuel pump will not cause it not to crank, but can cause it not to start. Test with fuel pressure gauge. If it will not crank, entirely different issue=bad solenoid/starter, bad battery connections, bad ignition switch, relay,wiring.

I have an 04 Malibu and when I get hard starts when I'm in the car I just press the accelerator down about half way and it always starts right up, some times I have to hold the accelerator down a little after starting to stop it from stalling but it is rare.

Fuel Filter - Removal & Installation
To install:
Fuel line from the filter using a back-up wrench
Quick-connect fitting from the fuel filter
Fuel filter from the mounting bracket
The fuel strainer attaches to the lower end of the fuel pump
module. The fuel strainer is made of woven plastic. The functions of the
fuel strainer are to filter contaminants and to wick fuel. The fuel
strainer normally requires no maintenance. Fuel stoppage at this point
indicates that the fuel tank contains an abnormal amount of sediment or
contamination.
Fuel filter to the mounting bracket
Fuel line. Torque the fuel line fitting to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).

I had the same problem-my check engine kept coming up with crank sensor(replaced several times- the car would run for 2 days then stall again)finally checked and replaced the wiring harness and the car ran great for awhile. Now I have a whole new problem(abs lights started coming on and the gauges all died while driving at which point the car just stopped and woulkd not restart)thinking alternator(the battery works great in another car)
