I have a Haier refrigerator model #rrtg18paaw and the freezer is not working but the fan is please help?

Hi Brett,
When the Haier refrigerator shows an error code, try this before replacing any parts or taking the refrigerator apart...
- Power the Haier refrigerator OFF for 10 minutes, then power back ON. (Unplug the refrigerator for 10 minutes) -
The error code may disappear after a reset is completed.
- If after removing power to the refrigerator in an attempt to reset, the error code comes back,the freezer fan is bad and need to be replaced.

Yes higher numbers are colder
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system.The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater,heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info

1...Check the fan that pushes the air from the freezer to the refrigerator it could be defective, if it is it will cause this type of problem. 2...Check your thermostat and make sure it is on the colder setting. I hope this helped you, Please rate me...Thanks

In units with physically separate sections, there is a fan that circulates the cold air between the two with some provision for adjusting the airflow to balance the temperature between the two chambers.

The cooling system is normally a totally closed loop that is charged in the factory through a nipple that is then pinched and welded shut.
This nipple must be cut and resealed to recharge the system.

Sounds like you need a new fan motor. First make sure the fan blade turns freely and see if you can move the shaft side to side, or up and down. If you can feel any movement in the fan shaft the bearings of the motor are bad. It is possible for some ice to have the fan blade frozen causing the motor to stall. Some models also have a fan light switch install at a point near the hinge side of the door.

First make sure your door switch is okay. Other problems could be your defrost timer, evap. thermo. etc.. Make sure that it is your fan before replacing it. To replace it you take everything out of the freezer and remove the rear panel. You should see the fan at that point. You can check for voltage at the fan by disconnecting it and measuring for 125V at the leads. If when the door is closed you have power replace the fan. If not check all other possibilities.
