Re: ps2 help!

The same thing happened to my ps2 i took it apart but it still didn't work some things just don't have very long lives and i'm afraid gaming consoles are one of those things you probably can't fix it and if you somehow find a way to it won't be very long before it stops working again I recommend just buying a new one

My ps2 slim wont play need for speed games anymore

your eye is going bad. Get a cleaner to clean the eye. Its a disk with a small brush to clean debris from the eye. But you can try to use an air can to see if it helps. Also, it maybe you have a deep scratch on the game...which you are not noticing it. Maintain your ps2 clean from dust. And make sure it has plenty of ventilation and they area is clean from debris, dust or anything else that can get into it. Good luck. Rate plz

Ps 2 disc wont turn

I had this same issue with my PS2, honestly I think it was something to do with the laser eye reader that reads the disc, when it is dirty the disc won't even spin or attempt to read it.

you can either take an air compressor and when the ps2 is off, have the disc tray open and blow the dust out of it.

Or, i personally would take the ps2 apart and clean the diode itself with some rubbing alcohol. Just don't void your warranty or somehow break it.

This article will help you with disassembly: Hope this helps!

My PS2 will not read my discs

remove the cover, take out the two tiny philips head screws from the cover on the drive and clean the lens with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Do this gently! use compressed air to remove the dust collected inside the unit and then reassemble.

Rockband PS2 brand new disc will not read

I had a similar problem with a "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty disc".

Disc would not play, but it was in mint condition. I had no choice but to return it to the store and get a new copy, which worked.

There must have been an error when the company burned the disc.

Ps2 not reading anything?

It could be dust in the ps2 or the laser may need optical re-alignment (If you dropped it and heard a click)

Cool down

Like burst said make sure its getting hot..your cooling fan couold be going bad.. if there is heavy dust build up it will restrict air flow and cause the fan to not work can use a vacume that has a hose to suck out the dust by holding it at the back (((( unplug all power to your ps2 first))))) the suction will cause the fan to spin at a higher rpm freeing up the dust..or you can use a can of keyboard cleaner and blow it out..but that just spreads it through the machine unless you have it apart..

My ps2 has been droped, and now it won't read discs

I wouldn't open the outer case if you are just interested in doing a cleaning.  You can purchase a cd cleaner kit that allows you to put a disc inside that cleans the lens.  Otherwise the first step i would take is buy a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of the system.  See if this improves the situation before opening the system.

My PS2 will not play my games

Hi Willhayes79, Test to see if the PS2 will read any Discs it is supposed to read. Try CD, CDR, PS1, PS2 Blue, PS2 silver, DVD. It might read something. To repair open the case, and clean everything in sight. Dust is your enemy. ?When you get to the lens, Use a Q-tip lightly damped with Rubbing Alcohol to swab the lens clean. Then dry it. You may have to completely disassemble the PS2 all the way to get all the dust. I believe Dust is shorting out your disc drive spindle. If your not comfortable with fully disassembling you playstation, Then go to and they may do a Cleaning and Tuning for $20 plus shipping.
