Question about Datamax DMX-I-4208 Label Printer

Open Question

Datamax I-Class DMX-I-4208 takes long time to print

I have a Datamax I-4208. When I print, the printer does not react for a very long time... several minutes. If I go to the Print Queue, the status says "printing." If I "cancel" the job, the printer will print the info immediately, BUT in really tiny letters. This tells me that the communication is there, but why won't it print in the first place? Is there a setting on the printer itself that may not agree with the EasyLabel Platinum software?

SOURCE: Present sensor faul on Datamax M class

Hello,

Apparantly, you have the present sensor enabled in the printer and there is no physical present sensor option installed. Go to the printer menu by pressing MENU. Press FEED until you get PRINTER OPTIONS and then press CANCEL. Press FEED until you get to PRESENT SENSOR and then press CANCEL. Press FEED until it says DISABLED and press CANCEL. Press MENU repeatedly slowly until you get a prompt to save changes then press CANCEL. Press FEED to clear error and it should go away.

SOURCE: Datamax I 4208 prints slow when set to landscape

try using a seagull sceintific driver.
also if you are sending graphics (barcode) instead of an actual barcode decoded font, the printer will process as a graphic.
If serial, speed up to max, if parallel it should print quite fast

SOURCE: datamax dmx-i-4208 (ribbon fault)

Re-calibrate the printer. If still not working, take out the ribbon assembly by removing 3 screws and check the sensor ( "L" shaped plastic glass). If still not working, buy a new ribbon assembly.

Adjusting Datamax i class

If the ribbon is moving right on the I-4208 so far that you aren't getting print on the left of your label, the typical solution is to make sure that your ribbon roll is pushed all the way in, as far as it will go (at the top center of the printer on the black hub where the ribbon and it's cardboard core slide on). Similarly, make sure that the used ribbon that is winding on to the Rewind Hub at the top front is also in (to the left) as far as it will go).

Dmx-4204 and zpl

You can't, on this obsolete model. zpl is "Zebra Printer Language." This model of Datamax is dpl only ("Datamax Printer Language"). Most current models of Datamax printers are dpl and zpl compatible.

Hello, Nancy.

It's clearly your application, since a test print appears normal and all systems appear normal. Is it possible to reinstall your application ?

Hope this helps.

We have several Datamax I-4208 printers and a few of the older I-4206 models. It would appear the replacement printheads are one in the same for both models be we cannot get either of our spares to work in...

Some changes were made on the I Class units and the new printheads do not work correctly in the discontinued 4206 models. You need part number DPO20-2262-01 for your I-4206.
