Question about MagLite Flashlight Type: Black D Cell 5: 5
They are probable corroded. Try tapping on solid surface that you will not damage, a piece of 2x4 works well. If still wont come out take off top of mag and see why they are stuck. If corroded clean wil baking soda and water then rinse well and use a hair dryer to dry completely. You may have corrosion on all other parts to.

You probably have corrosion from a battery. Protect your eyes, as batteries contain acid. With the cap off, you will need to tap the side of the case with just enough effort to dislodge the batteries. Start with the open end of the case pointing down and away from you. You can also tap the bottom of the case (the opened end) down on a surface to help the batteries along, but be careful not to bend the case. As batteries begin to exit, remove them and set aside. Continue in this fashion until all of the batteries are removed. Remove any residue left in the case, again, protecting your eyes. Even the dust from the batteries can hurt your eyes. Should you even think that you have gotten any particles in your eyes, stop immediately and flush your eyes with water, holding them open. Flush with copious amounts of water and seek immediate medical attention.
