Question about MacSpeech iListen (ilistensolution) for Mac

1 Answer

I have the (old) iListen program for MAC (3X17-1M3S-05WF-051R). It was so-so at best, so I bought MacSpeech Dictate (W699-1M9B-299W-399B). It was better, but troublesome. Thus, I recently bought the Dragon Speaking Naturally 10 program, (which works only with a PC). The Dragon is FAR better, but our background is Macintosh. With a core-duo Macintosh G5 I can switch back and forth, but it's a real pain. Is there a solution here somewhere? I'm writing a book, and I type like Godzilla. Is there a Dragon Speaking program I can hook up to 13 inch MacBook and Sennheiser headset to get what I'm after? Thanks, georgekennedy@mac.com

The Mac version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking is Macspeech Dictate.
MacSpeech Dictate is the same recognition engine as dragon, but it works on MAC.

The reduced performances may be due to the mic you are using, try using
a good quality 22 KHz sound input, placing the microphone near to your mouth.

Currently Macspeech is considered the best software for Mac OS.

Regards.

Best Buy should warranty any work that they do. Take it back to them and request that they troubleshoot it or re-do the transfer.

SOLUTION: After a year and half of keeping this broken dock around and researching online to no avail, I have finally "fixed" my Memorex iListen iPod dock.
*Quick answer is that I used an old ac adaptor from a modem I no longer used but for more details, read below.
The first issue was figuring out what to search for. My iListen doesn't clearly note it's name on the unit. All I could find on it was "Memorex" so for the purpose of those Googling for a solution, I used generic search terms like "Memorex white ipod dock" plus "won't power on," "fix," "repair," and "broken." I hope including those keywords in this solution's text helps people arrive at this page as a result.
To clarify the symptoms my unit presented: 1) The power supply's green light was lit but did appear to blink, or rather it was constantly lit but would fade slightly from bright to medium before repeating in approximately two second intervals. 2) The unit would not seem to turn on; however, pressing the power button with an ipod plugged in would result in the unit momentarily turning on. It varied in length but usually only "flashed" on.
Given these circumstances, my guess was that a "blown fuse" was the cause. Since I saw no way to open up the power block or the main dock unit (not quite sure what I was gonna do once in there except look for a fuse), I decided to rummage thru some old power adapters I had lying around in an old shoe box. I found one from an old modem that matched the symbols on the original "broken" adapter. (as i found later, the symbol represents a positive polarity, more info here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:AC_adaptor_polarity.png)
Once I plugged in the modem adaptor to the dock, it powered right up.
I know this was a long, LONG way around sharing a singular solution, but seeing how long it took to finally discover it (albeit an incredibly simple one), I wanted to make sure others found it and knew what circumstances specifically applied to my case.

Best batteries?

1. Try fast recharging NiMH batteries. They will recharge in 15 minutes or so. There is also an option in the system menu to select which type of battery you are using - this will cause the battery indicator to provide a more accurate indication of remaining life.

2. Not really.

3. Garmin has a mac support page at http://www8.garmin.com/macosx/
