2011 seadoo boat 150 speedster surging up and down on full throutle but idles fine in neutral and changed the plugs and new gas and tps sensor and still no differnce

Check for air leaks on the manifold, or fuel air locks, fuel starvation. Tank vent, kinked pipes, that sort of thing.

There is further help in the link.

This is caused by minor cavitation. It is not an actual issue. What is happening is that your impeller is moving fast enough that it's drawing out the available supply of water since the boat is moving slowly and there isn't enough pressure on the bottom of the boat the keep the jet pump fed with the amount of water you're expelling out the nozzle. Water is fed into the tunnel in the transom by the pressure caused by forward motion at speed.

Every jet boat will probably do it at a certain RPM depending on many different factors even down to water temperature, fresh/salt water etc.

For the longevity of your wear ring and impeller...avoid that rpm.

Changing oil in lower unit on an outboard motor.

the oil in the lower gear case in a outboard motor should be changed every fall when you take the boat out or once a year if you live where you can boat all year. when you look at the lower unit down by the propeller you will find two screws one lower and one upper. take the upper one out first and check the nylon gasket and replace if worn. put a coffee can or and oil collector under the moter and take out the lower plug. if possible do this after the moter has been run recently, but never run an outboard out of the water unless you have the garden house hooked up to ear muffs over the water intake sites!
the oil will slowly drain out. if the oil looks like chocolate milk it probably has water in it which means its leaking at the upper or lower seals and needs a pressure check and possibly seal replacemant. after all the oil is out (30 minutes or so) its time to refill it. for less than ten bucks you can but a simple device that lets you pump the oil in instead of squezzing it out of the tube. you attach it to the lower drain plug hole and the to a quart of the proper fluid for your motor. make sure you buy the oil to match your type of outboard.
pump the oil or squeze it it from the bottom until it starts to come out the top hole. make sure all the bubbles are out then put the upper plug back in with good gasket, remove the oil tube or appicator from the bottom hole and quickly relace the bottom plug as well with a good gasket.
thats it and you are good to go for the season. if you see oil leaking out the prop shaft or at one of the plugs you need to attend to that soon. tip remember chocolate milk oil or actual water means a seal leak and must be may just be a .25 nylon seal for one of the plugs is bad! any unusual noises of difficult or loud shifting can also means problems with the lower unit gears etc and its always cheaper to fix the problem sooner than later.
happy boating!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1997 yamaha 130 hp boat motor ichecked carbs firinf every thing checks out it will crank and run but when you excelerate it bogs down what could it be the stator ,power pack or what

Isolate the fuel tank in the boat by running the engine on a separate fuel source like a portable tank. That is the first step. Get a portable outboard tank and run the engine on that. 99% OF THE TIME ITS THE BOAT NOT ENGINE

Boat water in oil chevy big block

Hello, a good part of the time the cause is bad exhaust manifolds and or risers and or riser gaskets..leaking internaly and filling some piston cylinders with water through open valves of that cylinder when engine is not running, the water leaks past the piston rings and down into the oil pan it goes.. usually caused due to rust and erosion from salt water use or riser gasket fatigue\failure or even freeze cracks internally. Another common issue is the oil cooler may have failed internally and is mixing raw water with oil. I would remove and test the oil cooler first as the exhaust is cumbersome and alot more expense.
You can bench test these items just using a common sense approach and youtube is a great source for how to videos. Hope this helps.

I have a 1994 40hp 2 stroke where the tell tale is not spitting out under pressure and also i belive there is water leaking into the gearcase, because when i did an oil change it came out milky i don&

Tell tale usually gets blocked with salt over time. try to unblock it with a thin wire. and as for the gear oil?
there are 3 seals that can let water in.
Behind the propeller, gear selector or under the impeller housing. best way to tell , remove the lower housing ( leg) and apply 10 psi into the screw where you drained the oil , then spray soapy water around those 3 points. hope it helps?

How do you change the lower unit oil on a 1989 Force 85hp outboard

Hi. on the lower unit you will see two screw heads, one above the other. these are the top and bottom openings to the oil reservoir. Since you are probably winterizing I would get a bucket and a flat blade screw driver and drain all of tha old out. Chances are there will be some water mixed in with it. Then get a new bottle of lower unit oil and squeeze it all into the bottom hole while using some force to prevent it from leaking out. Once it is all in, replace the top screw and then the bottom screw. That's it. Happy boating.

4 thumbs up please. Joe

My 2001 115/HP Johnson outbd was starting hard last weekend. By Sunday it started to run ruff but would clear at higher power setting. When I pulled the boat out of the water I lowered the motor to drain...

The lower unit and oil draining is in no way related to the motor. They are two completly separate units. The g/box is totally self-contained.It sounds more like you have an engine problem. You don't say if the motor is carby or efi(fuel injection). If carby,The carby's are playing up.Be it float levels, stuck needle and seat.A prob. But not a big one.If it's an efi motor it needs to be serviced and so does a carby motor. You don,t have a big prob, just a service one.Hope this helps you
