Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
Help! I have a very strange problem with my Dell. Two days ago I
noticed the battery was running low and plugged it in as usual. after a
while, I realized it wasn't charging. If I unplug it it loses power,
but if I plug it in it doesn't gain power. Also when I double click the
battery icon it says that there is 9% battery power, but 419:49 hours
Had same problem - turned out battery was failing (after 2.5 years). Ordered new battery from (China) - had to return because system sis not regognize it - had to order new battery from Dell (NOT happy with price - double what other web sites had it for), BUT - the battery was recognized by system. Also had motherboard and charger replaced (under warranty to rule out those components). Still investigation why battery from China (website) did not work - returned ok, but shipping costs were outa sight !

Also, check to make sure that you have a good connection between the laptop and the charging cable at the power port on the rear of the laptop. We have an Inspirion 6000 with this problem and we've discovered if you pull the power cord out very slightly and lift it upwards, the charging icon appears in the system tray. Appears to be a fractured connection inside the laptop at the power port. Changing chargers does not make any difference.

For those having this problem and if your machine is still within Dell Warranty period, give them a call right away. They will probably ask a few questions and if everything goes well, they will send someone to your place to fix the machine.

Hi let me share my knowledge... I have Dell latitude D620.
Battery suddenly stopeed charging despite the green battrey LED is on when AC adapter is plugged.
Laptop works fine with AC connected.
But battery is not charging at all. It is detected.
One of two solution which I found after my research are
UPDATE BIOS of ur laptop(for which you should have battery of min 10% charge hold) so I am unable to update at the moment.
If Bios update is not the case then motherboard needs replacement.
Hope it might work for some one I'llpost again after doing BIOS update.Currently I am looking for someone with same laptop to charge my battery ;)

I have the same problem even tried a new battery. It died after discharging. Now it doesn't charge any more. Would there by any problem with the motherboard as such if it's not the adapter or the battery.

Did you try an other charger ? if the problem still persist your first option will be to repack the battery or get a new one and also note that it is recommanded to replace with a new and appropriete battery for the model you have
