How is it plugged first of all, did you set it up as a dell printer in add printer? try adding it as a HP printer since they are HP printers with the Dell name.

I ordered 3 cartridge replacements from Dell. The printer still says...empty. I replaced it with
another cartridge from Dell. I've done the cartridge alignment, still say empty, checked & double
checked everything, loaded & reloaded, and clicks when you take it out. BUT there isn't a final
Please don't say this printer is doomed for the printer cemetery? There must be a solution.

i have the exact same printer and this is what i did even though i took out all of the paper ( i thought) i got a flashlite and i opened up every thing that i could and then i looked and wow lots of little pieces of dust and some paper too so i removed all of that and after powering it up again it worked just fine so you may want to try that ok hope this helps solve your problem.

If a nozzle cleaning does not work, try to reset the printer:
To run a nozzle clean, perform the following steps:
1. Verify the All-In-One Printer 964 is powered on and connected to a computer.
2. Verify that the paper support (input tray) has clean, plain white paper loaded.
3. Press the Menu button.
4. Press the Down button until Mode: Maintenance appears on the LCD screen.
5. Press the Menu button.
The Dell 964 Maintenance Menu appears on the LCD screen.
6. Press the Down button until Clean Cartridges appears on the LCD screen.
7. Press the Start button.
The AIO 964 prints the cleaning page. This process cleans the ink cartridges and resolves many print quality issues.
Dell Printer reset
1. With the power on,unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
2. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
3. Wait 15 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power supply to the back of the printer.
Plug the power cord back into the wall socket.
