Had ice forming in the back of my Kenmore refrigerator 106.6215211.I

The Er IF error code indicates that the main control board detects that the ice compartment cooling fan is not working. This will cause a lack of cooling in the ice compartment and will normally result in no ice production. This is something that a service technician will usually need to correct.

If the water is showing on the freezer side, more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt. If thats not an option that you want to use the actual repair method would be to 1) unplug the machine 2) empty everything out of the freezer so you'll have room to work 3) take all the shelving and baskets out 4) locate the screws on the rear wall inside the freezer and remove them 5) take the back panel off exposing the evaporator coils ( the aluminum ) 6) directly below the coils is a trough of sorts and the drain is usually in the middle and runs out the bottom, remove the ice by carefully chipping it out or by using a hair dryer or hot water. 7) once all the ice is gone, the drain is visible and water can flow smnoothly down the drain dry the area and reassemble.

Hi and wlecome to FixYa, I am Kelly. You really have 2 problems.... 1 the inlet water valve has failed causing the water in the ice tray. The only remedy for this is to replace the inlet water valve. If you can squeeze the rubber fill tube at the back of the icemaker and it is / was frozen solid the inlet water valve is for sure bad.
Turn off the water supply to the ice maker until the water valve is replaced or the current problems you have WILL repeat.

The other problem you have is due to the door being open the evaporator coils iced up big time and the normal defrosting process is not removing all of the ice. Unplug the unit and direct a fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours with the freezer contents removed. While the unit is manually defrosting... open the back of the unit by removing the lower fiberboard cover and clean the condensor coils and fan along with the drip pan / tray.

After 2 hours clean up the water mess and return the unit to normal service. It should work just fine.

You have a problem with the defrost circuit of your refrigerator. The parts of this circuit include the defrost timer/module, heater and thermostat. The function of the defrost circuit is to periodically stop the compressor and fan and turn on a heater mounted on the evaporator coil to melt any frost buildup. The fact that ice is building up and even stopping the fan indicates that the defrost circuit has failed for a while and the temperature in the refrigerator compartment is probally higher than it should.

Typical failures with the defrost are the timer/module and heater. Can't tell if you have a timer or module since you did not supply a model number. You can verify if the heater is bad if you have a meter. You will need to unplug the refrigerator and remove the panel in the freezer and use a hair dryer to melt the ice from the coil. Once the heater is exposed, a meter will be able to determine if the heater has failed.

If you are not able to troubleshoot the problem, recommend that you call a service company. Hope this helps you.

I think the wire was kinda expensive. If I were you I would try to save the fridge. I think you should unplug it for a couple hours, take everything out for a while and remove any ice. Once the fridge reached room temp, the refrigerant should have made its way back to the compressor. Plug it back in and see if it makes the noise again.
It might just be the fan in the freezer. I would try the unplug/deice for a few hour method first because it is free before you try to replace a fan that might be bumping ice. Good luck!

Sounds like the freezer/refrigerator circulating fan is starting to wear out, When the motor for this fan starts to wear out it does not supply enough circulation for the freezer and the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace this fan is around $300.00. The immediate solution is to unplug you unit for about four hours allowing the ice that has formed around this fan to melt. Or use a hair dryer to melt the ice, but be very careful not to melt the plastic.

er if means the ice fan is not running. it blows freezing air into the ice maker compartment from the freezer. unplug the refer for 24. these are susceptible to frost or ice forming in the blade of the fan and prevents it from spinning. unplugging it will let it thaw. ice is a big problem with this model.

Should be no longer than 24hrs. Is the freezer good and cold.. has to reach a certain temp before icemaker activates. Might take little longer if you put a lot of warm things in freezer or refrig. when you made the change. Is there any water or ice in the icemaker itself? Water may not be getting to icemaker call them back out if it dont work soon thats what warrantys for :0)

Check the water spout comeing into ice maker and see if water is leaking out or spilling over
