Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I'm trying to hook up the front panel audio on my new case.

I gutted my Compaq Presario and put everything into a new case. I have everything hooked up except for the headphone/mic wires on the front panel. HP and ASUS don't have any good info for me on this problem.
The MoBo is an ASUS A8N-LA, which is out of a Presario SR1954NX.
Here is a link to the case and manufacturer.

Usually such info are given in the user's manual. If it is not there, then try downloading the maintenance manual. (ehteshamhusain@gmail.com)

Hello,Help,my Compaq Presario 6000 won't boot, turns -on starts it's POSTthen massage...WINDONS DID NOT START SUCCESSFULLY RECENT HARDWARE ,SOFTWARE CHANGE. no changes made. the screen goes black...

Hi Chas,

sounds like you have a piece of hardware that has a bad driver. If you connected something recently, try disconnecting it and then start your computer. If it starts, then you will need to find the correct driver for it before you attempt to hook it back up again.

If that does not solve the problem, try unhooking all hardware, except for the hard drive with the operating system on it. If it starts normally, then you can turn your PC off and hook up one piece of hardware... start the PC... turn it off again... hook up another... start the PC... etc. until you find the hardware that is causing the problem.

If it does not start with only the operating system hard drive attached... then, the hard drive may be defect. You can take it out and put it in a USB casing and hook it up per USB to another PC... if you see the data on it, it should be ok (just in case, this would be a good time to backup any data on it that you may need). If you do not see the hard drive in Windows explorer then it is probably defect and you will need to purchase a new one.

Hope that helps

Need install manual for gl8e motherboard plz

have searched everywhere. I even entered a chat windows with Compaq & asked for a site to download the manual for Compaq Presario SR5015LA Desktop PC which has the motherboard MCP61PM-HM in it. (Nothing). This board was made by
ECS known as EliteGroup. Still nothing. Forms for the most part do not help, only with drivers. Drivers for the board can be found on Compaq's web site.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3411762
But the manual will not download. That's what is needed to hook up the front panel pins to you're case. I even looked for other possible boards who's layout was close to the MCP61PM-HM.
Nothing! I did find other Compaq PC's that also had the same board in it but after looking through the manuals, not one actuallys shows where to plug the front panel LED's on to the board. Why? Because Compaq does not support a user changing out their case for another. There is no money in that.
For the most part RobPu, system boards share some things in common. I am posting a picture for you. This pic is upside down for you so try & work with me here. Hook up you're LED's as shown. This should work for you. Pin 1 is you're starting point.
daa3370.jpg This is standard for ECS boards even if it's being sold by Compaq. Like I mentioned, for you it is posted unside down.
Try it, I'm sure it will work for you.

Compaq Presario s3310cl starts when hooking in power plug and will not shutoff using power button. Just started doing this today. Someone said to unhook everything and hold power button in for 20 seconds...

The On/Off switch is mounted inside of the Case Front Bezel. It is
very unlikely that it is broken. The problem is the front bezel
plastic switch (which is not really the switch) is more like a cap or a
knob that comes in contact with the actual switch is somehow broken.
You can remove the front bezel to see I am talking about.
Manually push On/push Off on the actual switch and your system will turn
On and Off like it should.

How do i remove the outer bezel on a compaq presario cq61? i need to replace the screen. compaq presario cq61-110sa

1. Take the side door off as usual.
2. Locate the drive door lock inside the chassis.
3. Rotate the lock to the down position to unlock the upper front panel door.
4. Press the indentation located on the lower front panel to open the lower door.
5. Grasp under the bottom of the upper front panel door, lift up, and gently remove from the hooks. (Tip: The upper front panel door has finger holes.)
6. Remove any of the bay components by pressing both sides of the drive rails. There are no screws.
hope this helps...........

I need a Compaq Presario 5713 manual on how to open the case .

Typically desktop PCs have 4 to 6 phillips case screws that fasten the outer metal skin to the back of the case chassis. These can be found by looking at the back of the PC and following the skin edge until you find each screw. The screws are typically near the corners and halfway between top and bottom. Once removed, the outer skin will slide back and then lift up. In tower PCs, only the left side (facing the PC) has to come off requiring only two or three screws to be removed. Panel will then slide back and fall away. Reconnecting case or panel may require aligning rails or hooks and sliding towards front. Reapply screws.

My Compaq died....

One other thing you can try, open the case and disconnect the power supply from the motherboard. Let it sit for 10 minutes, hook it back up and plug in and turn it on.

Let me know how it works out.
