Hi, Welcome to FixYa

You can do a treble shooting by adding your self into your account. In that way you can see how your Video looks like.

The primary thing you can do is updating the driver of your webcam.

Also you can try these steps because Yahoo! Messenger might have the wrong camera selected.

  1. Click "Messenger"
  2. Click "My Webcam.
  3. Click "Messenger" again.
  4. Select "Preferences."
  5. Click "Webcam."
  6. Click "Camera Source."
  7. Click the pull-down menu and select the camera you want to use.
  8. Click "OK."
Also Your firewall must permit outgoing TCP connections on port 5100.

Follow these steps to do that
1. Click Start, Settings, and select Control Panel.
2. Double click on the Network Connections icon.
3. Right click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet, and then click on Properties.
4. On the Advanced tab, uncheck the box Protect my computer... if you would like to disable the firewall. If you like to only open the webcam ports, check the box and continue with the remaining steps.
5. Click the Settings button.
6. Click the Add button.
7. Under Description, fill in Yahoo! messenger. Under Name or IP. fill in localhost/127.0.0.1 Under both External Port and Internal Port fill in 5100. Check the button TCP.
8. Click OK to close all opened dialog boxes.

This should fix your problem

Thanks

Usually this can be fixed by uninstalling the software and reinstalling, just make sure you reinstall the software BEFORE you plug in webcam.

Dont know how to connect with Friends' webcams

Make sure you have all the correct drivers for the camer.

Then go into the "options" setting of either yahoo or MSN, which ever you are using. There should be a "video" settings, and use all the tools in there to set up the camera.

In both MSN and yahoo, to see their camera, they have to allow it. The problem might be on there end also, double check with them if others can see their camera.

Webcam problem

i hv HP dv6000 and facing same promlem. B.coz its my field, so I tried myself to solve it.

Then I found that: If I try to use cam after using it in QuickPlay then it will not work.

So to work with web cam in yahoo messanger, just re-boot your lap and then (don't try to use it with any another software like QuickPlay etc), just goto Yahoo Messanger and use it, atleast it will work first time after boot.

If any problem just Ask me
Thanks
